AMANDA "ASIA" ALEXANDER
I let out a sigh and continued walking. They just wanted a reaction and I wasn't going to entertain them. The little snickers and laughter could be heard behind me.
"Good mawning, way yuh name?" the frail security guard asked. His thin limbs were no match to these students. If anything was to happen on this campus he stood no defense.
I forced a smile then responded, "My name is Amanda. I have to get going though else I would be late." The lie slid through my lips too easily. I was in no mood to be having a conversation with anyone. If only I was invisible!
I walked around the back to avoid any more smart responses from the students. When I thought I got away guess who was walking towards me. That fucking pervert Franklin.
"Let me help you with that bag," he said as he walked towards me.
He was definitely pushing his luck!
"If you don't back the fuck away from me. We are definitely going to have a problem," I said in the calmest voice I could of mustered.
"You have a foul mouth on you Miss Alexander. I wonder if that's how you going to speak to your students, " he responded.
"If you think I'm going to stand here and entertain your bullshit. You've got it all wrong! Stay the hell out of my way!" I yelled.
"I'll be watching you Miss Alexander! Better stay away from that rasta man!" he blurted out.
I turned on my heels and faced him.
"What the fuck did you just say? I think you need to mind your own business before you come sweeping into mines! My personal life has nothing to do with you! You low life piece of shit!" the anger raged inside of me as the words left my lips.
He let out a loud chuckle then walked away from me.
This fucking asshole! Who does he think he is to be up in my business. Could my day had gotten any more worse. I made my way quickly to the office to put away my stuff.
"Good Morning," I said as I greeted the other lecturers. They answered like they didn't even want to open their mouths. But I honestly did not give a fuck. I strolled over to my desk and plopped my bags beside my chair.
Anisha, another lecturer, pranced over to my desk. Her long weave was curled into luscious curls and styled into a side part. This style framed her facial features magnificently. Since the first day, I had admired her sense of style. It was immaculate! I didn't have the patience to be dressing like her everyday. The clothes that she wore complimented her slender body. She was dressed in a green buttoned shirt, wide legged denim jeans with few slits in the knee and orange heels. Quite an interesting pairing but she pulled it off beautifully.
"What you doing later?" she asked with a glowing smile.
"I don't have anything planned. I'll probably just be in my bed," I responded.
She propped her ass on the edge of my desk.
"Would you be interested in going out tonight for dinner? I was thinking Flow Wine Bar or Mangoz," she asked.
I really didn't have the funds to be going out, as end of month was far from near. I pondered for a moment.
"Umm..."I tried to say but she cut me off.
"Don't worry about the bill. I've got you tonight. You just gotta get dressed and meet me there. Matter of fact I'll pick you up," she said.
"Okay. I guess we could go to Mangoz. Let's exchange numbers so I could get in touch with you easier," I said.
We exchanged numbers and before I knew it was time for me to head to my first class. I was happy that Anisha didn't press me about why I had a overnight bag. With a quick glance over my class schedule, I ensured I was heading to the correct class. This morning was my 2nd year students. I made it just in time when my students started walking in. Before any class I needed to sanitize my desk and clean the white board. My OCD would not alow me to carry on without doing so.
"Good morning, Miss Alexander," could be heard almost in unison as each student took their seats.
I sat around my desk once majority of the students were seated. It was time for me to take attendance. One by one I went over each students name on my computer screen. I instantly realized that three of my students didn't show up yesterday or today. It was the first week of school and they decided to be absent. They had their priorities wrong!
"Does anyone know Regina Smitten, Kimani Stephen or Javeion Nelson?" I asked.
The room went silent.
"Kimani dey ah Merica. Last time mi talk to him he say he cummin back nex week. Ah don't kno de oda one dem name," Alexis said.
"Thank you Alexis. I'll find out from the Dean about the others. Today I'll be continuing our review on the basics of accounting. It should be a refresher in case anyone forgot during the break," I said as I walked towards the white board.
I begun my lesson, with precise strokes my hands glided over the surface of the white board. I was however interrupted by the ringing of a cellphone. The obscene language in the lyrics echoed in the classroom.
Make dem gwan cuss
Make dem gwan vex
Baby, me a go fuck you regardless
Your pussy so tight
You're body flawless
Baby, me a go fuck you regardless
Me coulda never tell you say, "fuck fi free"
Mi pussy deserve a billion G's
Dem a pree, dem a pree
Baby, me a go fuck you regardlessI turned to see where it was coming from.
"Hey Daddyyy"
"I'm actually inna class"
"The woman now dey asking why u nah come class but I ain't tell she nothing"Daddy? Seriously? I had heard enough.
I was quick with learning names so I knew exactly who she was."Brianna, could you take your phone call outside or end it. I'm not going to tolerate you disrupting the entire class for your meaningless conversation," I said firmly.
She turned looking at everyone.
"Ah nah me you ah talk to. Car be me! Never me! Like yuh war me end yuh likkle career," she yelled.
"Brianna, I'm not one that is easily fazed by petty threats. I'm going to ask you for the last time to either end your call or take it outside," I said even more stern.
"Bitch, fuck you!" she yelled as she angrily picked up her stuff and left.
I refrained myself from letting out a smart remark. If these students thought I was a push over they're in for a great surprise. The entire classroom erupted into laughter.
"Please be quiet! Let's get back to our lesson," I said.
