Nala's pov:
I went to sleep happily, but that did not last through my horrible nightmares.
I stood, cowering beneath my father, as he stood above me, drunk and angry.
"YOU ARE A DISGRACE TO OUR FAMILY!" He shouted in my face. I was trembling with fear. I should have known not to respond, but I always had a smart mouth. I didn't know why, but I always had to give a snarky remark.
"Says the drunken abuser!" I shout back, momentarily gaining courage. He quickly smacked that courage right out of me. Now I lay on the floor, sobbing, and in pain.
"WHO THE HELL SAID YOU COULD TALK TO ME LIKE THAT!?"
"Who the hell says you can hit me like that?" I mumble, but he hears.
"What the hell did you say?!" He asked me, barely containing his anger.
"WHO THE HELL SAYS YOU CAN HIT ME LIKE THAT?!" I shout, standing up, and getting in his face. He shoved me into the wall so hard, I could feel the blood slowly soaking my hair. I started to get dizzy, and my vision started to go blurry. His eyes widened as he realized how much trouble he was going to be in if anyone found out. He quickly pulled out his phone, as my back slid down the wall, and I landed on the floor. I didn't hear anything he said, but a few minutes later I heard sirens. Before I knew it, I was being hauled in an ambulance, with my father holding my hand, rubbing his thumb on it.
"My baby." He kept on saying, with fake emotion. I wanted to pull away from him. I wanted, so badly, to tell the EMT what really happened, and not the story my father made up, but my body wouldn't respond. A mask was placed over my mouth and nose, and my eyes closed, unwillingly.
