TENNESSEE"Toni-" he began again, cutting me off from making my point, I sighed and looked at my brother as we sat in the car, Stefan in the back not bothering to pay attention to either of us, "you know that me being there will make her trust us more, there's not point in arguing." I said as a matter of fact, Nik groaned as he rolled his eyes before getting out of the car, telling Stefan to wait a second.
He didn't explicitly say 'no' to me, so I smirked and exited after him. As we walked up to the - rather lovely looking - house, we heard a woman call out for a 'Rudy' who I could only assume was a dog but I could never tell with werewolves. She was pretty, her skin was pale and blonde hair was straightened to a damaging amount, she'd was dressed for the warmth and clearly had an attitude.
We walked up quietly towards the woman and just as she looked up we were infront of her, effectively giving her a fright.
"I am so sorry, didn't mean to scare you." Nik spoke in a horrible American accent, and sound not in the slightest apologetic about scaring her. I wanted to laugh at him but held it in during this specific moment.
"Can I help you?" She asked, rather rudely but I once again had to keep it together, after she spoke I stepped forward and in front of my brother with a smile, "yeah, sorry." I gave her the sweetest smile and the best American accent I could, feeling Nik's glare on the back of my head made me want to push on the prove him wrong, "our car ran outta gas a couple miles back, and my idiot brother here forgot to pack the extra canister we normally have."
I let out what could only be described as the worlds fakest laugh before continuing, "listen, we've been walking forever and i was wondering if we could use your phone?"
"Don't either of you have a cell phone?" She asked, making Nik cut me off, "heh, yeah," even his laugh was sub-par, he waved his phone around before answering, "battery died." I smiled from next to him, "I don't have one, it broke and since we've been on the road I dont have time to replace it." I said shrugging.
She was clearly more cautious of my brother than she was of me but all of that went down the drain at Nik's next words, "look, I promise I'm not a serial killer-" I paused, blinking at his stupidity, "okay! What my brother means to say, without coming off as creepy, is that we really need help here and us using your phone would be a great start." I smiled, again cutting Nik off because he definitely freaked her out.
She sighed, "sure." Before turning round to walk to the house, "so... we can come in?" Nik asked, wondering if it worked, "no." From where I stood, now behind Nik, I let my facade drop; the smile was gone, my shoulders lowered and a glare already in my face.
