I felt stupid, I walked up to Caroline's door in something I hadn't worn in a while. I used to get in trouble from Nik and Elijah for standing out to much and not following the standards held for 'women like me' but I was a millennia old; I could do what I wanted.

So obviously during the sixties I would get myself fitted in not only the usual fashion but also in three piece suits and such. The set I was wearing was a simple navy two piece; gradual flaired trousers that fit my legs perfectly, a white shirt, a navy fitted suit jacket, a tie that I would actually wear back then and fake a 'vote for JFK' pin, finished off with a pair of black suit shoes. My hair was nearly pulled back into a low styled bun and I had natural make up on, I felt pretty masculine but I also felt as powerful as I did back then, when I would walk in I knew I owned the room.

When I knocked, Caroline smiled one of the largest smiles I'd ever seen, she skipped over to the door and opened it with a 'hi' and a hug, I looked at Sheriff Forbes who held the same look she gave me when I arrived to 'vampire business' with Damon.

"Sheriff." I greeted her, she looked at me and forced a smile, "Nia." The sheriff then turned to Caroline with a confused look, "I thought you were going with Matt?" She asked, Caroline smiled and placed her hand on my arm, igniting a spark to light where she held me - a spark I ignored.

"Well, Nia offered and I couldn't turn her down." I smiled at the sheriff once again making her nervously chuckle before asking if she could talk to me alone.

Caroline was about to decline but I placed my hand on her hip so I could budge her out the door, "it's fine Care, I won't be long-" I leaned into the ear furthest from her mother, "no need to listen in, I'll be okay." Caroline nod her head before moved out the way of the door and stepping outside, "I'll be in the car." I nod and turned to her mother.

"Be honest with me, you are friends with Damon, so you know about vampires right?" My eye brows shot up in surprise at her bluntness but I didn't move from my spot if the door knowing Caroline was probably watching my back, instead I played with my cuff links.

"And if I do?" I asked, not looking up at the sheriff, "protect her." I did look up at this.

"Please, protect my daughter." I gave her a sympathetic look before nodding, "obviously." I said before turning and leaving, that was weird. That was probably one of the weirdest parent interactions I've ever had.

The drive to the dance was a short one but we did stop a couple times because Caroline wanted to take photos of us, because it was good lighting and it would be a missed opportunity - or at least that was her excuse, I think she just really liked how we looked together.
