I wake up with a headache and take some medication before dressing in a white floral dress. I'm walking downstairs after brushing my hair and doing my makeup, only to meet face to face with Corey. "Morning princess," he says before planting a kiss on my lips. "Morning Corey, and I'm not a princess so don't call me that. Also, I never gave you permission to kiss me," I greet and inform him before walking towards the kitchen.
Brendan looks me up and down before sending a gorgeous smile my way. I smile back and scurry over to the kitchen island with a plate of stacked syrup covered pancakes 🥞. Yummy. I'm so hungry, "for me?" I ask now smiling with pure happiness. "Yes, we're siblings now after all so I might as well make breakfast for you as well, seeing how I woke up earlier," Brendan tells me between bites of his own pancake tower in front of him. "What about Corey?" I ask, curious of why he isn't joining us for breakfast. "He doesn't eat breakfast, but he sure as hell loves dessert," he answered me, but I don't know how to feel about that response. It's definitely not what I had expected him to say, that's for sure.
We finish eating and go to Brendan's car. He gets us to school and even opens the car door for me. I forgot that gentleman still exist, I thought while walking through the threshold of a new beginning. My old, new school.
I head off to the office and converse with the principle about my return to town, the school policies, etc.
Eventually I get my schedule and as I'm walking through the waiting area, I spot Corey and Brendan sitting next to each other on the chairs, both bruised up. "Oh my God, what happened to you two? School hasn't even started yet!" I scold them, oblivious of the students overhearing and staring. "It was just a minor disagreement between us. It's really nothing. Get to class before you're late," Brendan brushes me off. "The bell will ring in a minute, so instead you could stay here and let me make it worth being late," Corey winks at me right after that statement and it becomes silent. "Brendan Smith and Corey Campbell," the principle calls them in and I walk away.
I go about my morning classes, teachers forcing me to introduce myself in each. It's finally lunch time and I look around for either Corey or Brendan. Instead, I see a scene unfolding in front of me, one which made me wish I went back to England asap. Maeve, my old bestfriend, and Liam, my ex boyfriend, making out without a care in the world. She was the one who told me I'd be better off without him anyway and to go fulfill my dreams in England. I feel my eyes begin to tear up, right as I lock eye contact with Corey. He walks over to me and hugs me tightly, then looks me up and down, and kisses me.
The kiss was short and sweet, yet I begin to sob into his chest anyways as his masculine arms wrap around me. This 6 feet tall guy I barely know is the only reason I haven't walked out the cafeteria yet. "Shh... it'll be okay. Whatever it is, you can always tell me whenever you feel like it. Come with me, I know a quiet place nearby," he says, takes my hand, and slowly pulls me behind him and out the side exit door.
