Before taking the match test, you are obligated to do a preparation course. It's not much of a deal, it lasts two weeks and you take it along with your senior class.
But me being me and delaying the test one year, I have to take it with the former junior now senior class.
That didn't give me any joy. Mostly because Missy Bradford aka the school's queen B was there and for some reason she despised me.
My best friend Riley says it's because of my fame and because I won prom queen and her best friend Tyra (who was my age) didn't. Maybe she was right.
Everyone was sure Tyra was going to win because she, along with Missy, was the most popular girl in high school. But then, my mix (which had been published years ago) hit the charts for some reason and everything started going wild.
Yeah, I won prom queen. Out of all the girly and popular girls in school, I 'jeans and a t-shirt no matter where you go' won.
The popularity slowly faded away and people started treating me like an average person. That made me feel great since being the centre of attention is not my kind of thing.
Riley had taken the match test las year and she was paired with Farkle Minkus. Yeah, his name is Farkle.
I was so happy for her and she was so happy too as she had had a crush on him since 7th grade.
Everything was good until she moved to Gold. Gold was the most expensive and elite place ever and Farkle was one of the richest people so they both moved there.
I haven't been able to reach Riley since she moved and that made me upset for some time but then I understood that she was probably getting used to married life and that couldn't be easy.
"Maya honey let's go, get in the car, I'll be right with you" Debbie told me and I walked towards the garage.
I got into that car and waited for Debbie.
In what seemed like forever but was actually like 10 minutes she hopped into the car.
"Okay, first day, how are you feeling?" She asked with a huge smile that then turned into a nostalgic expression.
"Oh babe, you've gotten so big" she smiled and a tear went down her cheek as she grabbed a piece of my blonde hair and played with it. "Seems like yesterday when your 15 years old self walked through the door with that lost look in her eyes" she made a pause "I love you"
"I love you too Debs" I smiled and she hugged me.
We drove for about 5 minutes and we were already there. Purple's no-speed-limit law was amazingly useful.
"Here we are. Have a good time and be nice" she smiled and kissed my forehead.
I walked out of the car, bumped into someone and fell to the ground.
It was a boy who was apparently from the morning shift because he was leaving.
I took the afternoon shift because I'd rather sleep in the morning.
"Watch where you walk asshole" I said and he didn't even help me but muttered "bitch"
Great. If this was how my routine was going to be I'd rather jump off a cliff.
