Maya's POV.
Today was going to be amazing. The mixer was the only thing I was looking forward to doing when it came to this silly match test.
We were at the airport gate and I wasn't sure how to say goodbye to my foster family. Luckily, they made it easy.
"Ready?" Bob (a/n I don't mention Bob a lot but remember he's her foster dad) said and pulled me into a big hug.
"Yeah, I think I have everything I need!" I smiled tapping my luggage. "It's not like I'm moving out, it's just one weekend"
"You'd better not move out quite this young lady! We're gonna miss you!" Debby added cheerfully.
"Take care M" Stacy told me and both Donna and Tom hugged me.
"I will thanks"
I walked into airport security and saw how everyone was hugging and smiling at each other. Of course they were, they were all seniors. I, on the other hand, was a year late.
"It's hard not to know anyone isn't it?" A male voice surprised me only to recognize it as Lucas's.
"Yeah.. I mean, they all seem so unite and excited... " I said.
"Aren't you excited?" He asked me and I noticed his eyes were a perfect mirror of the ocean in its deepest parts.
I stared at them for a second.
"Yeah, I've been looking forward to doing this this since the course started" I confessed. I'm not usually this nice to Lucas.
"What's your seat?" He grabbed my ticket and laughed at my confused look.
"Don't worry, I just want to see the row and the number... Oh! 36B? Funny, I'm 36A" I rolled my eyes taking my ticket back and he started teasing me.
Now this was more like it.
"Oh damn it! You're saying I have to switch seats with someone?" I joked and a smile appeared on his thin lips.
"Don't act like you don't want this Hart" he smirked.
I was ready to fire back when the security guy called me so without even glancing at Lucas, I walked towards him.
My feelings towards Lucas were so conflicted and confusing that sometimes I didn't even know whether I liked the guy and other times I found myself laughing with him and even thinking about him.
"Your passport?" The officer snapped me out of my thoughts.
"Oh sure" I handed him it and he smiled.
"First time flying, huh?"
"Yeah. I'm thrilled"
I was given my passport back and couldn't help being surprised with how nice the officer had been. I had expected a much more tough personality.
We waited until boarding and in that time I wasn't able to find Lucas. Not that I wanted to.. It's just that.. Well.
As I finally got on the plane, (which was way smaller that I expected with only four sits per row divided by an alley) I was surprised to find Lucas was already there. When did he even get in?
"Look who's here!" He smirked. "If you need to sleep you can rest your head in me"
"I'm good" I laughed rejecting his offer.
"Ladies and gentlemen it's the captain speaking. Today's flight to Turquoise is expected to last 4 hours 35 minutes. Thank you for choosing State Airlines and hope you enjoy your flight. Crew get ready for takeoff" a male voice sounded through a speaker and suddenly I wasn't thrilled. I was scared. How can this thing even fly?!
"Aren't you scared?" I asked Lucas.
"Nah, I always fly on the summer" he answered in a calm way.
"That sounds amazing" I tightened my seatbelt.
"Oh but you are scared" he chuckled in realization.
"Nah, shit Sherlock" I buffed and he laughed.
"Just chill, it will be fine, hold my hand if you need" he offered but I refused.
"I'm fine"
