"All right everyone *coughing fit* calm down. My name is Hayate *coughing fit* Gekko and I'll be the proctors of the preliminaries for the Chūnin exams." Hayate said before coughing again.
"Prelinaries?" Naruto asked interested. "Yes since a lot of teams passed we'll be holding the preliminaries to weed out the weak. If any of you wish to quit now is the time." Hiruzen said. Everyone waited before Kabuto's hand went up. "You got me. I am tapped out. I can't continue anymore." Kabuto said and walked away as Naruto and Sasuke's eyes narrowed. They looked at each other and nodded agreeing the fact that he was suspicious. "Alright since no one else wishes to leave. We'll begin the preliminaries. *Coughing fit*." Hayate said as the screen lit up and Sasuke and Yoroi's name came up. "Would Sasuke and Yoroi please step forward? The rest of you please *coughing fit* move to the upper area." Hayate said. "Oi don't you dare lose to this weakling." Naruto said smirking. Sasuke just smirked return.
"Are both of you ready?" Hayate asked. Both of them nodded. "Hajime!" Hayate said and jumped back. Sasuke merely raised his hand and shot a small chi blast at Yoroi distracting him and appearing behind him and chopped him knocking him out. "Winner by knockout Sasuke Uchiha!" Hayate exclaimed, leaving everyone but team 7 shocked. "Well my youthful rival seems like you have been training your students hard." Guy said giving his nice guy pose as Sasuke came up. "Hmm, did you say something?" Kakashi asked. "Gah damn you and your hip ways Kakashi!" Guy exclaimed throwing his hands up. The screen once again lit up.
"Would Sakura Haruno and Ino Yamanaka of the Leaf come down?" Hayate asked. "Ready to lose Ino-pig?" Sakura asked before heading down. "You wish Billboard brow." Ino said.
"Ready?" Hayate asked. "Yes." Both of them said together. "Hajime!" Hayate said jumping back.
15 Minutes later.
"This match is a draw by double knockout." Hayate announced as Kakashi and Asuma brought their students up.
"Next match Tenten of the Leaf vs Tamari of the Sand." Hayate announced. Naruto looked on in interest. "Ho is someone worried about their crush." Sasuke teased. Naruto didn't say anything but a tinge of pink was visible on his cheeks.
"Hajime!" Hayate announced.
Few minutes later
Tenten was being carried away after, well, being beaten half to death and later landing on her back on Temari's fan. "Ooooooo. That's gotta hurt." Naruto commented. Everyone turned to stare at him. "What?" Naruto asked.
"Next match Neji Hyūga of the Leaf vs Hinata Hyūga of the Leaf. Please come down." Hayate announced.
Hinata slowly got down with Neji and took their stances. "Hajime." Hayate said. Both stood there not moving an inch. "Give up." Neji finally said. Hinata was shocked. "You can't win. You are too weak and have no confidence in yourself. Fate has already decreed me the winner." Neji stated in a monotone voice. And the match begun.
Few minutes of Hinata going through Neji's beating and mental torture
"Just give up you can't win. There is no need for you to suffer anymore. Just surrender." Neji said. "Never if there is one thing that I have learned after becoming a genin is that I will never give up no matter what. That is my nindo, my ninja way." This for some reason angered Neji, who ran at Hinata aiming for heart. "Neji this match is over!" Hayate called but Neji just ignored him. Faster than anyone could see Naruto was holding Neji's hand. "Get out of the way this is between me and her. " Neji said trying to get out Naruto's grip. Naruto just remained silent and kicked him in the gut and kicked him again in the face sending him flying back.
