. . . .

After my meaningless conversation with my new best friend Bart, I read some more of the magic book and gain a very simple understanding of it. Magic is just a part of the abilities one can have when you are connected with certain elements. The concept of magic, is just that, special abilities. To use magic is to understand your connection with your element and how that element interacts with the world. Take, for example, the wind element. It is just that, the wind, air, a breeze. A basic understanding of wind means you can control it-create strong winds or control airflow. Having a higher understanding allows you to be more creative-use the element in more ways than one. The book doesn't really specify exactly what that means, but I figured it depends on the element.

I still have yet to know how to do magic. Sucks. The book doesn't specify at all.

It has definitely been a while but Annie is still not here. I guess we don't have a designated teacher or someone knowledgeable here.

Though, what about the doctor? Wouldn't he be knowledgeable about this? At least somewhat?

I sigh. This feeling of helplessness coupled with boredom is not pleasant. I'm a rich young lady, I should not be feeling like I'm trapped in a prison cell!

I don't really want to read anymore and yet I don't want to sleep either. Maybe I could experiment and figure it out myself?

I stretch my arms a little and wiggle my toes.

In the movies and stuff, they kind of breathe deeply and clench their muscles, right?

I breathe in deeply and close my eyes. Trying to feel something, anything different inside or outside of my body. Nothing unusual at the moment.

I try again, this time counting to three for each breath, one, two, three... breath in, one, two , three.. Breath out. I feel my mind relaxing, my muscles relaxing and I become more aware of my surroundings. The gentle breeze coming from the crack in the window, the faintest sound of shuffling outside my room. I go into this weird half-sleep, half-awareness state where I feel nothing, yet sense everything. After what felt like a while, I finally notice something surrounding me. Like fuzzy light specks floating around me. I open my eyes abruptly from this weird feeling.

I blink, then blink again. Tiny, almost too tiny, specks of light green sparkles are floating around in my room. The density isn't much but it certainly is enough for me to notice them.

I breathe in deeply and my breath makes the particles move around. I can't seem to taste anything different and I don't feel any different either. I slowly raise my hand to touch the particles and I felt nothing but the space in front. How weird. Is this magic?

The particles are light green, light green...! I reach over to open the magic book and compare the colors of the elements to the light green particles I'm currently seeing. The color matches the wind element!

I smile. Cool, I have the wind element! Like Annie!

I try again to touch and interact with these weird particles when Annie comes back in, breathless.

"My lady! I have news!" She places her hands on her knees as she takes in multiple breaths.
