They were exhausted. The weekend had gone so great, there was hardly any energy left. Street and Chris left HQ early that Friday, since it had been such a slow day. LA crime scene had taken a small break, thank God, and the whole week they spent mostly doing paperwork, training and cleaning. Slow, slow week to say the least...but on Friday everyone was eager to start their weekend early.

Tan was heading off to Las Vegas with Bonnie and family friends to engulf in a weekend full of casinos, shows and occasional sins. Deacon and Luca were planning to take it easy, especially Deacon who had racked up long hours in his second job for the past two weeks. Hondo was planning a huge get together with Nichelle's parents, to finally meet them and reveal their pregnancy. Chris and Street decided it was the best moment to finally redeem the two tickets for sky diving lessons from Chris' birthday. They also planned to join some friends on a camping trip to Malibu Creek State Park to complete their weekend. Street was so excited, he couldn't concentrate much that whole week!

It was just seven thirty, but Hicks decided everyone could hit the road. He got the team together to remind them (for what seemed to be the 100th time) of the conference on Monday with the new Chief and his staff, and then dismissed them. Most just grabbed their belongings and left, including the two youngsters.

Chris and Street had already packed their things in her truck this morning, so they were pretty much good to go. They only needed to stop for snacks at the store, and some refreshments. They had a quick dinner and were on their way!

Monday, 9:30am

"STREET! This isn't your bike, man! Slow down or we're gonna crash!" Chris complained as he drove her truck past the third consecutive red light... but it was to deaf ears. Street was used to the adrenaline, after all he even arrived late on his first day at the job. This was a walk in the park for him!

The wheels of the Jeep came to a screeching halt as Street turned the whole car around to park backside first. They had raced down the boulevard at 75 miles per hour because they were extremely late. Their hearts were pumping so hard, as they got out of the car, skipped the elevator line and went up the stairs. They ran up, two steps at a time.

When they finally made it up the stairs, the environment was calm. Too calm! Both rushed to the middle space, but saw none of their teammates. The locker room and kitchen area were also isolated, and in the corridors they only found three other officers from other squads.

"Oh no! Everybody must be in that huge meeting with the new Chief downtown!" Chris lamented, as she knew their butts were in deep trouble. Hicks had reminded them all last week how important it was to be present at that introductory meeting, where the newly appointed Chief would get to meet the best of the best. Rumors were the new Chief was bringing with him a younger and more dynamic staff, looking to boost police funds and implement new reforms, including the expansion of Capt. Cortez's Community Outreach Program.

"Oh no! We're screwed." Street said sarcastically as he looked at her with a wide grin, "Well, at least the weekend was perfect, right?" he winked as he leaned in, closer to her.

"Street"- she answered annoyed-"We're at work! Besides, no way I can think of the weekend when we're about to get railroaded by the boss. Hicks' gonna be steaming!" she feared the worst.

Her phone buzzed in her pocket. She took it out, read the message, and sighed loudly. As she jolted her head back, Street asked what was wrong.

"It's Tan." she flipped the phone towards him, and he read the message out loud.

Hope you're okay because Hicks is coming for you. And Street.

They both looked at each other scared. Street took her phone and texted: We're at HQ. How bad is it?
