It's dark...

Where am I?

Am I dead!?

I examined my surroundings.  Red filled the skies in an unnatural way. All plantation had died out and the flowers wilted from their former glory.  The moon beamed down onto the land and was shockingly close with an intimidating glow.  Black liquified droplets danced around the place as they floated and drifted towards one direction in a messy, irregular line.  Some were big, and some were small.  They all moved with great energy and life - something this place lacked.

My curiosity was hungry.  What is this place?  Where are the droplets going?  I took after them.  Surprisingly they knew I was following. They went faster, and faster, and faster.  But never to the point I'd loose them.  Sharp branches rubbed against my feet and my eyes mistook some of the trees as dangerous predators.  Isn't it interesting? Our eyes.  They can make it seem like thousands of things are chasing you at once despite it being only your imagination... your fear.

Trees kept on shrinking in numbers until a field was present.  Wind blew ominously through the dry knee-length grass.  But that wasn't even the most extraordinary part.  In the exact middle was a stump of a chopped down tree.  It wasn't an ordinary size.  No.  It was massive.  The height was taller then the forest and 10x wider then my whole house, including the 5 acre yard!

The lights came back on.  This time it was in the shape of a big tree. They flickered a bit to give off a special effect.  Were they trying to tell me something?

I walked around, examining everything.  Within each tree section, or at the end of each tree branch, was an image.  Each image was a basic aspect of life. There were also animals, people, buildings, smaller trees and symbols spread throughout.  Unfortunately I couldn't read the symbols.  My head turned quickly at the feeling of something tugging at my shirt. I looked down to notice it was one of the droplets. Once I was aware of its presence, multiple more came to form an arrow shape.  Moving off somewhere insanely fast without stopping.

"Oi!? Wait up!"

I made a childish laugh when chasing after them.  Finally — after this whole time — they decided to make a singular line.  On the other side of the stump was a narrow & steep hole-like cave with carved-out stairs.  The line of droplets descended into the darkness.
