Chapter 3: Crows Outside my Window (SCP: Opposing Sides)

Light beamed around the person, giving off an anonymous and silhouetted appearance. Blinded, I averted my eyes and adjusted to my surroundings. There was wires attached to me that connected to a big box with beeping noises. Upon looking around, I noticed posters on the wall saying 'get well soon!' or displaying symptoms of various diseases. Thin sheets covered my whole body till it reached my shoulders.

I'm in a hospital...

My head turned to look at a logo imprinted on the wall. I knew exactly where I was. Outside the window was a wide concrete-platform with trucks and helicopters parked there. Around the perimeter stood a large fence with barbed-wire on top and nature spreading everywhere else into the distance.

"So I passed out?"
I turned towards her and waited for a response.

"Unfortunately yes," she responded sympathetically.

Finally I could see her features. Fare skin, cute little button-nose, overly plucked eyebrows, and black hair with strands of grey — assumably from stress — tied up into a messy bun. We looked at each other awkwardly until she walked over and studied the monitor.

"It seems your heart-rate has calmed down."

She documented this information on a piece of paper connected to a clipboard;  Smiling a bit, she was happy with my recovery.

"Sorry for all this confusion, allow me to introduce myself!"
She bowed a bit before continuing, "I'm Mrs Fryer! A Chaos Insurgency nurse that pretty much lives in the medical ward."

Mrs Fryer rested her head on one of her hands, smiled a bit and let out a small giggle.  This made me feel at ease and more comfortable.  I smiled back.

"It's nice to meet you Mrs Fryer! I'm Ben Carol!" I responded with a self-introduction.

"Same goes to you Ben."

It was quite weird to me though.  The fact they managed to get someone as sweet as her to join the Chaos Insurgency surprises me.  For a second I forgot the horrid truth, for a moment I forgot what happened in my dream...  Mrs Fryer sat at the end of my bed and asked, "I don't want to be in your personal bubble.. but, do you by chance recall what happened before you passed out?"

"... Yes I do, very clearly in fact."
Just as she was about to open her mouth I quickly said something else.
"C-can I please see Marcus McMurdo?"

She looked confused, "Alright, I'll go get him."

(Marcus' POV)

Tall trees surrounded us with the ground unnaturally covered in gravel. We all quietly stood in a single line. I held my wrist in front of me, wriggling it. Red and scratches covered it, stinging intensely.  I turned to Ollie and, with irritation in my voice, asked "Why was I the one carrying Ben to Base?"

He looked at me with anger, "No one followed the sketchy man but you. Ben ended up with his health in jeopardy because of a dumb-dumb like you... What do you think!?"

I looked down to the ground. He's right, I was stupid and reckless. If I had waited for the man to leave, then maybe, just maybe, no one would've gotten hurt... 'Shit! the first brother is here already!?' played constantly in my mind.  Could he of been an anomaly? There was no doubt.  Whatever happened, I was certain this 'brother' had something to do with it.

Announcement:
Hi guys! As you may know, I'm the author of this fanfic. I'm sorry to say this, but, I'm going to rewrite the whole thing. The reasons are because:
1) The plot is all over the place.
2) Characters need more depth.
3) Dialogue is a bit messy.
4) I still need to decide what SCP's I want to feature.
5) Referencing needs a bit of work.
6) I really had no idea where I was gonna lead the story into.
I hope you understand. I know nobodies really reading this right now so I guess I shouldn't stress about it.

Thank you!
