" he's gonna be okay, Jojo." tom said as sonic was still pasted out on a kitchen table. (Y/N) was sitting at the table looking at the photo of sonic's family, she felt bad for him as he had lost them so long ago. " he's gonna be okay, right?" (Y/N) aks her mother. " I'm a vet, (Y/N). I don' even know what I'm looking at here." Maddie said. " he's a human, or so he says" tom replied. " so a human as electric hands?" Maddie asks in confusion, " he said he got them by accident. I don't know. once he wakes we can ask him." tom said before Maddie checked his pulse, " whoa. his pulse is super-fast" Maddie said, " maybe that's normal for him? I don't know. you gotta help him, Maddie. " Maddie then started checking sonic for any broken bones, " I don't know his physiology. he doesn't seem to have any broken bones. he's just really banged up." Maddie said. Jojo watched them before she noticed that sonic's shoes had holes in them and that his jacket was ribbed and burned, she takes them in her hand before walking upstairs. (Y/N) looked inside the bag before she pulled out a device, as she was fiddling with it, it activated making her jump. both Maddie and tom looked before seeing a hologram of sonic with a little girl. they were both laughing and playing as sonic carried the girl on his back as she was holding up her stuffed toy bunny making it look like it was flying. tom walked next to (Y/N), " that must be someone important to him." he said, (Y/N) looked at the hologram before she looked at the photo, " what happened to them that made him so.... angry?" (Y/N) asks before turning to Maddie, " he'll snap out of this. he'll wake up soon?" she asks. tom thinks for a moment before saying, " oh. smelling salts. don't you have, like, vet smelling salts, like for cats or parakeets or something?" Maddie looked at him, " no. they don't make cat smelling salts." " they should," Tom said as he stretched the back of his neck, " I have human smelling salts in my human first aid kit. Maddie takes one out of the kit, snapped it before placing it under sonic's nose. then his eyes shot open, they were flashing blue as he shot up, " gotta go fast!" he yelled out before zooming around the house, but then he saw his hologram. he stopped in his track before he slowly picked it up and smiled, his eyes went back to normal and he shuts it off, " you okay sonic?" tom asks, " yeah I'm fine. hello pretzel lady" sonic said before waving to Maddie a little. she was taken back before she looked at tom and said, " tom? can I talk to you, please?" tom nodded before following Maddie into the room as she closed the door behind her.
" uh, first of all, can we take a moment to acknowledge how under control I've been?" Maddie said, Tom nodded his head agreeing with her." amazing." tom said before they fist-bumped each other. " second of all..... WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON? is that thing an alien?" Maddie asks with a firm yet angry voice, " tom calmed her for a moment before answering her question, " okay, so remember how crazy carl is always going on about the blue devil?" tom said, Maddie gaps as she pointed at the door, " that's him? he's real?" Maddie asks, " yeah" tom replied with a nod. " what is he doing here? what are you doing here? and is our daughter here?" Maddie asks with more questions to ask. " I .... kinda sorta.... shot our friend with your tranq gun," Tom said as Maddie looked at him in shock, " no, you did not," she said as she crossed her arms. " I didn't mean to. this is kinda hard for me to explain. and it's gonna sound a little bit crazy. he has to get to the Transamerica building, and I promised I'd take him." tom said. then Rachel spoke from the chair she was tied up in, " aliens? Maddie, your husband's lost his mind. use this as an opportunity to leave him. no one would judge you. " Rachel said making Maddie roll her eyes.
meanwhile in the kitchen sonic said in a chair as Jojo walked in with something behind her back. she stopped in front of sonic and said, " so you won't hurt your feet anymore." before holding out a pair of red running shoes and a dark blue jacket. sonic smiled as he takes them in his hand, " I haven't been given a gift in years. thank you" he said before putting shoes on his feet and the jacket on. he stood up and did a little dance, " all right! looking good" sonic said making Jojo and (Y/N) giggle.
Maddie stood quiet before saying, " okay. you said you wanted to help people in real trouble, right? well, that's what you're doing. alien men still count as people. right? " " I think so too," Tom said with a smile before taking Maddie's hand, " I love you. did I tell you that already? I don't deserve you. you know that?" tom said as he leads Maddie out the room. " I know that," Rachel said. they walked into the kitchen before tom asks sonic, " so. back at the bar you were telling us how you became who you are. so what happened?" sonic sighed before taking out his hologram, he clicks it and it showed sonic and his family. " this is my family, we were a topical normal family till I got my powers from an old lad that was closed down by the council. when I came to, my hair was blue, and I had superspeed. my father knew that I was in trouble and that I had to hide my powers before Robotnik found out." sonic said. " yeah that guy whos coming after us, what does he play in all this?" (Y/N) asks sonic nods.
" Robotnik was a scientist that the council hired to hunt down people with power, they called us the unwanted. Robotnik found me and made the canal take me from my home. I was a lad rat for a month before I escaped with a few other people. when I got home, I knew that they would come after my family so I went to face him. but as we fought, he trapped me and I had to watch as my home exploded with my family inside. at that moment I let all my anger out, it made my powers take over and I destroyed everything in that lab. but I let Robotnik live, I don't want to be a killer like him. " sonic said. everyone was silent as sonic finished his story, "I went to what was left at my home, all that was left was my sister's toy rabbit. to this day I don't go anywhere without it. I laid them to rest before going into hiding with some other people like me, but then we were found and I ended up here. and that's my story" sonic finished. (Y/N) jumped off her seat before hugging sonic, " I'm so sorry."
tom felt sorry for sonic as he pats his shoulders, " sonic, we can get you to the tower, my truck still runs, but it's pretty much totalled." tom said as sonic let's go of (Y/N)'s hug. tom thinks for a moment before turning to Maddie, " you think your sister would mind if we borrowed her car?" tom asks, " you have got to be kidding me" Rachel said in anger. Maddie nodded her head, " she'll be fine" she said. " yeah, okay guys, let's go." tom said to the others as they all left.
