6. What's happening back home?

Two days ago...

Paris, France

Rosalie followed Annette further into the park- what was the girl up to now? She could get into serious trouble, being out this late! As her housekeeper, Rosalie felt a strong responsibility towards the child, since her parents were never home anyway, poor thing.

Annette had stepped into a clearing; Rosalie intended to go right there and talk to the little girl then and there. Just then, Annette disappeared in a bright flash.

One moment, she was there- the next, she was not! This must be the work of some evil spirit! Rosalie screamed for her life, and ran home, deciding to call the police right away!

She put her hand on the receiver, and suddenly, went blank- "Huh? What am I doing?"

"I forgot again. This dementia is getting dangerous, especially since I live alone in this huge mansion. I should be taking care of the Richards' estate, if I keep forgetting things, it won't be long before they fire me..."

"It's a shame, really, that Caroline and Arthur Richards never had any children, I'd like to have a child around the house...a girl, yes, a girl would be nice, I would lovingly braid her long blonde hair, and she would be kind, and caring, I would care for her like she was my own..."

And the housekeeper was lost in dreams of her imaginary girl...

Tokyo, Japan

A bicycle clattered to the ground, as its owner has mysteriously vanished in broad daylight- surprisingly not even one person noticed this odd phenomenon.

Only Kairi Kishi's dad noticed something was amiss when his daughter didn't return home even as the sun set. Kairi's stepmother didn't seem to realize that her stepdaughter was missing.

"Lily! Kairi's missing, and all you're doing is watching those silly soap operas! I can't believe you!" Mr. Kishi snaps at his wife, in a first- he usually kept quiet around Lily Kishi due to her...uh...aggressive nature, but he was doing this for his beloved daughter.

"Who is this Kairi? I've never heard of her in my life."

"Seriously Lily? I know you two don't get along, but pretending to forget your stepdaughter is crossing a line!"

"I have a stepdaughter? Kim, are you alright? Do you need a doctor? How can a child just magically begin to exist?"

"Magic, uh oh..."

Mr. Kishi picks up his phone.

"Hi, this is Mr. Kim Kishi- Kairi Kishi's father, she's a student here, in class 7B. I need her admission records immediately."

"There is no Kairi Kishi enrolled in this school." said a gruff male voice, before ending the call.

"Oh no, this can't be happening..."

"Kim? Are you okay?"

Kim Kishi doesn't respond, he just pulls out a gemstone locket, and whispers some words.

Lily's irises glow white, and suddenly, she collapses onto the sofa.

"Kairi. What happened? Is she ok?" Lily asks Kim shakily.

"Lily, I know where Kairi is, but I don't know if she's okay...I knew this day would come, but I didn't think it'd be so soon... It may sound ludicrous when I say it, but you've got to believe me, I'll explain everything." Kim says, taking his wife's hand.

"I'm ready to listen."

"Far, far away from the solar system, in a universe yet unexplored, is an ancient planet called Kronos. The alien civilization was blessed with magic, but as payment, they suffer a great tragedy every 30 years..."

"...and that's where I think Kairi is."

"That's a lot to digest...I know I've been hard on Kairi, but it's turned her into a strong person. She'll be able to take whatever the world throws at her."

"Lily, Kairi's life might be in danger, and right now, I can only think of one thing to do."

Kim rapidly punched in a number, and waited for an answer.

"Hi, may I speak to Mrs. Caroline Richards?"
