Is there truly no other way?

I do not know to write poetry
But I'm angry
And I've been feeling this way for sometime now
So I decided to just randomly
Break these lines
and vent it all out my way

I repeat once again,
"I suck at poetry"
I'm sure it's evident by now
Anyway it doesn't matter
Because this isn't about my poetry skills
It is rather about a very serious issue
That I and my fellow countrymen are going through...

Every night we sit around,
And everyone chants the same sound,
"We must leave, there's no other way,"
It's the story of our lives everyday
After all we live in a country that sucks our souls away
Yet I stupidly ask myself,
"Is there truly no other way?"

Each day I wake up to a power cut
Then lie in bed with a heavy heart
Accompanying that is massive regret
And of course a heap load of sweat
Once again I stupidly ask myself,
"Is there truly no other way?"

Many a times throughout the day
I hear my friends and family say,
"Oh no, the price is too high,"
"Oh no, our fuel tanks are dry,"
"Oh no, soon will come the outage,"
"Oh no, yet another food shortage,"
"Oh no, the rupee is a wreck,"
"Oh no, how do we work?"
"Oh no, our businesses will shut,"
"Oh no, we must soon figure something out."
This time too I shamelessly ask myself,
"Is there truly no other way?"

"Do not discuss the things that are negative,
It only makes it worse,
Instead share something positive,
Together we can break this curse,"
Says on WhatsApp an optimist,
In an attempt to label the rest as "pessimists"
And then comes the disagreeing opinion from a realist,
I read these messages and I laugh,
For these self-proclaimed labels and ideas sound funny to me at first,
But then I crumble a little inside,
At least they seem to have strong views
But me? I guess I'm just lost
So, I sigh and I ask myself the usual,
"Is there truly no other way?"

The days pass
The crisis grows
It starts to look like there's no salvage
Minute by minute,
Day and night,
The little bit of hope I have on my Lanka fades

I toss and turn
amidst all these chaos
Witnessing my dreams burn
It comes to a point where I feel numb
And now there's no choice but to succumb
"Indeed we must get away
Because there's no other way"
