The third hour: 3:33 AM

I have been unable to sleep all night due to my hyperactive imagination convincing me that there's another gunman hiding outside. I came downstairs to the living room a while ago, I opened the windows so the cool breeze could make its way in. I was curled up with a copy of flowers for Algernon on the couch, diving into fantasy to escape the grim reality of things.

I then proceeded to make my way to the kitchen to make something to eat, I decided to make a rice pudding. I put the rice on a boil and waited for it to be ready enough to eat. I followed the recipe just the way mama would always make it for me on those cold winter days when I stayed home from school.

Just then I heard footsteps making their way down the steps, I wasn't expecting Martina to be awake at this hour.
"Tina I wasn't expecting-" just then my gaze met Niklaus's as he gently clutched his side with a weak smile.
My heart fell into my stomach and I smiled back at him.

"Hi." He spoke softly, his voice deep and ridden with sleep, "you really thought you got rid of me that easily?"

"I should've known better than to underestimate you, love," I respond walking over to him, he glances me up and down and tugs at the hem of my short shorts.

"So I'm unconscious for a few hours and suddenly you're walking around the house in your undergarments for everyone to see?" He teases lifting a condescending eyebrow.

"It's only my nightclothes darling, don't be too displeased." I pout grabbing hold of his hand as he tilts my chin up with his other.

"This is lingerie." He counters cupping a hand over his mouth like I'm the first woman on the moon, "how scandalous."

"Scandalous? Why forgive me, would you prefer I wear a trench coat and gentleman's trousers?" I ask him playing along,

"I would prefer you wear nothing at all." He smiles and I wrap my hands around his neck as he leans in to kiss me.
I missed this, I missed him.

"That's rather inappropriate Mr Vlacov, are you certain you're up for the task, perhaps you're a tad bit out of practice." I taunt him and he groans reluctantly into my neck in disapproval.
