[Warning: A reminder before we begin the final chapter of this story. I want to say, whilst the day/night goes ahead, Fin, Kol, and Rebekah are still there watching as the scenes unfold. Imagine it like a movie being played. However, in their reality, it's like a form of sleep paralysis—they are technically asleep, but because the inner eye has unlocked—they can hear and see but cannot move or wake up (unless Klaus pulls the stick out of his arse and un-stakes them). Therefore, if you, like I, have grown an attachment to Darcy, this is a warning before the traumatic events that will proceed.]
Trigger warnings: I have to place them in case I get reported and banned, and we don't want that. That means no more writing and no more Darcella :(
[Emotional trauma, blood, gore, emotional and mental manipulation, mentions of death and dying.]
Also, I apologise if you are experiencing trouble reading this chapter. I'm having some technical issues with uploading the full chapter. Please comment if you don't see a message in 'BOLD' from me at the end. Thank you!

The pungent smell of gasoline and burnt flesh perfumes the stagnant atmosphere. Red, orange, and yellow flames dance up at the walls and across floors of the insides of the basement, connecting with the petrol lines splitting off in multiple directions and igniting, leading a straight path to the pile of ash left behind after the deceased vampires.
A startling scream arouses Damon Salvatore. His head jerks around, eyes blinking rapidly over the expanse of the amber inferno. A shuffle over to the right of him causes him to jerk his head around and squint at Mayor Lockwood.
"Mayor, is that you?"
Mayor Lockwood stands to his feet, furrowing his brows at Damon. "What are you doing here?"
Damon snickered, standing up and dusting the soot off his clothing. "I'm a vampire. What's your excuse? No, really. The vervain didn't affect you. You're not a vampire. What the hell are you?"
Mayor Lockwood opens his mouth to reply and scoots backwards, away from Damon, only to bump into the Tomb vampire leader waking up.
The leader leaps to his feet when a loud crack reverberates around the basement. The three spin around in tandem to see a wooden beam affixed to the ceiling crumble and collapse, creating an almighty thud and a cloud of thick opaque smoke as it meets the solid foundation. A cough and a grunt are heard immediately before a flicker of ivory ascends from behind the haze. They watch in astonishment as the mystery figure skirts around the flames, harsh smoke-ingested coughs hacking at their chest. They remain voiceless until they walk further into the vast space and step into view, mumbles spilling past their dry lips.
