Set the Scene: You and Johnny have been next door neighbors, and thus friends, for years. However, now that you're both grown and mature, you see each other a bit differently.

*warning* Some swear/mature words. Smutty, with some serious and questioning spying.

Johnny pulled up into his driveway and turned down the music. After having such a long day after school, he was ready to take a break and get some sleep but knew that he had to get ready for practice soon.

He turned to you, sitting pretty across the seat from him, taking you in. You were so encaptured by the small words in the book you were reading that your eyes didn't look up to see that you were already home. The sun was shining through the window, hitting at just the right angle where it highlighted your hair flawlessly. You were so quiet and peaceful, like a deer in the forest, he didn't want to scare you off by accident. Deciding to just stare at you until you noticed, Johnny realized this was better than any long awaited sleep he might get.

........wasn't there music playing?

You looked up to see Johnny's garage in front of you and finally realized you were home. You giggled as you turned to see him leaning back with his head on the seat, titled, so he could see you better.

"You should have told me we were here so I don't look like such an idiot." You gave him a quick hit to the arm, and put your book back into your backpack. The hot, valley air greeted you as you stepped out of the car. You were looking forward to finally taking off your shoes and climbing into bed with your book.

Once Johnny saw you get out of the car, he did the same. He walked back to his trunk to get his textbooks and karate stuff before returning back to your side. You were leaning against the car, eyes closed in bliss, letting the warm sun melt into your skin. What he wouldn't give to spend the rest of the day with you, exactly like this, with nowhere else to be.

"Enjoying the heat, princess?" Johnny spoke jokingly, waking you out of your trance.

You opened your eyes and glanced at him, giving him a slight smile. "Yes, I am in fact. I can't believe your backyard has a pool and mine doesn't, even though our houses look the same." The  two of you walked to your front door, taking the conversation with you.

"I've told you, you can always use mine. I don't even have to be here, the back gate is always open for you." Johnny spoke with sincerity in his voice.

Once you both reached the door, you turned to him, readjusting the backpack on your shoulder. "I know, but I'd rather use it when you're around, it's more fun. I'll make sure to bring Laura my homemade popsicles when I come over during summer pool days."

Johnny responded with a laugh. "Make sure you bring some strawberry ones, those are my.."

"..favorite." You both said in unison.

"I know J, how could I ever forget." You sighed and let yourself take a moment to look at the boy in front of you. His hair was more blonde now, thanks to the upcoming summer months. His skin was getting tanner by the minute, unlike you, who just ends up with an unfortunate burn.

Growing up next door with Johnny meant constant outdoor time, whether he was teaching you karate in the garage or putting on chalk drawing competitions, which you would win by the way. Having someone to hang out with like this, and even go to school with, was valuable. He wasn't what you were expecting in a neighborhood friend, but you'd never trade him out for anyone else.

You snapped out of your thoughts when you realized we were still outside your door. "Don't you have karate practice?"

"Yea, but I'm getting dressed here instead, so I have a couple minutes to spare." Johnny answered, trying to make this moment last.
