Chase and Mattel examined an epileptic patient while the other assistants chatted, when he suddenly started to shake and push Chase away from him violently. Kutner tried to calm him down but he stood up and grabbed a scalpel from the tray in front of Chase. Trixie was so deep in her thoughts that she didn't have time to realize what was happening and stop the patient. She felt a sharp pain in her abdomen and gasped, looking down to see blood pouring out on her clothes. Foreman managed to grab the patient's arm and Trixie rushed to fill a seringue with a sedative. She emptied it in the man's shoulder and he fell unconscious. Just then Katya arrived and she was about to scold everyone when she saw Trixie's pale face and a blood stain expanding on her white coat. Katya yelled for nurses and put an arm around Trixie to support her while getting the layers of fabric out of the way. The wound was deep, and Katya felt tears build up in her eyes as an anxious feeling overwhelmed her. She lifted Trixie up to put her on a stretcher and she was taken to the emergency department. Katya stayed beside her, even if the nurses told her they would take care of Trixie. The M.D insisted to stitch the gash herself. Trixie was put under an nitrous oxyde mask and Katya began to clean up the cut after washing her hands. She checked that nothing was inside and if any organs were damaged, but luckily it was only skin and flesh. Katya meticulously sutured the wound and applied a big bandage on top of it. She sighed and removed the mask Trixie was wearing, then gave her some analgesic. The unconscious girl was moved from the operating room to a recovery room. Katya was about to leave Trixie's side when Kutner, Chase and Forman walked in.

"Is she alright?" Foreman asked. Katya nodded and headed out, mad at herself. She hated that she almost cried in public, that everyone was able to see how much what happened to Trixie affected her. She locked herself in her office and slept on her sofa to forget about it, however she was woken up a few minutes later by repetitive knocks on her door. She opened and Cuddy was there, an empathetic expression on her face.

"I just heard what went down earlier. Are you alright?" The brunette asked worryingly.
"You should ask that to Mattel." Katya mumbled.
"Come on Katya. I know you care about her"
"Oh do I? Who told you that? And besides she's not dead, it's a simple cut she'll recover just fine" Katya replied bitterly.
"Anyway, she has woken up." Cuddy said before closing the door. She knew Katya was lying to herself, but nothing could make her acknowledge that.

Instead of going to Trixie's room, Katya called the other teammates in the office. Foreman already explained to her how the event unfolded, and she was ready to yell at everyone.

"I can't believe Mattel had to prick the patient herself after he just stabbed her, while all three of you did nothing. We can thank Foreman for having the great idea of beeping me, but aside from that today was an unprofessional mess. The patient could've aimed at her face or her heart. Who leaves scalpels around an epileptic and schizophrenic patient?"
"Schizophrenic?" Foreman asked, since this diagnosis wasn't mentioned before.
"Yes he is. The nurses gave him clopixol, he should be able to leave once he gets his prescription and an assigned psychiatrist." Katya added.
"You can't blame us for what happened, we had no idea he had a mental disorder" Chase protested.
"Yes I can."
"You wouldn't be that mad if it wasn't Mattel who got injured" The blonde man mumbled.
"Chase don't get on my nerves. All of you fucked up. And I'm not going to pat your backs and tell you it's nobody's fault. You may leave"

All the doctors stood up and left the room, except Foreman.

"You should go see her. She likes you, it'll make her happy" He said talking about Trixie.
"Ugh don't tell me what to do. If she needs mental support we have great psychologists in this hospital" Katya replied annoyed. Foreman sighed and closed the door behind him.

Cuddy and all of Trixie's colleagues came in her room to check on her when she woke up. A girl she knew from the pediatric department also passed by. Katya was the only one missing on the list, but Trixie wasn't surprised. The M.D seemed to be estranged from anything that involved feelings. Trixie told herself that she seriously needed to get over Katya, because she would only get hurt if she tried to be anything more than her assistant. She needed to find things about her to hate. As Trixie searched for which of Katya's features were despicable, she looked to the side and saw her boss peeking inside the room from the small window on it. She caught a glimpse of her blue eyes and blonde bangs before the woman vanished. Trixie smiled, and hated that she found Katya's behavior cute.

Chase drove Trixie to her house when she was allowed to leave, and he told her that Katya gave her the week off. Trixie wondered if this was a nice gesture or a way for Katya to keep her far from her. When Trixie got home she carefully took off her tight sweater and put on a comfortable t-shirt. It was a little bit early for dinner but she was hungry so she heated up a pizza and ate in front of the TV. She couldn't bother to redo her bandage for tonight so she didn't take a shower and went to bed after doing her skincare.

Trixie was woken up in the middle of the night when she felt a burning pain radiate from her wound. She went to the bathroom and removed the plaster, but the sore wasn't swollen or red, it seemed to be healing right. She decided to take some pain meds and go back to sleep, but another throbbing pain hit her. It was so intense that she moaned out loud. She urgently took her phone and called Kutner, knowing he worked in the emergency department. He advised her to have someone drive her at the hospital so she could come directly in his unit. After debating who would be less mad about being woken up at three am, she called Foreman. He immediately responded and rushed to his car when he heard Trixie's wails. Soon they were both at the hospital, and Trixie was quickly put up on a stretcher and sent to an examination room. Foreman and Kutner looked at her stitches but there was nothing wrong with it. Trixie was now screaming in pain, and after giving her some analgesic the men decided that Katya needed to come. When Foreman told her about the situation she imagined the worst. Had she not seen something while sewing Trixie's wound?

Katya arrived a few minutes later with a visibly worried face and joined her colleagues. Trixie had her eyes closed and was grabbing the sheets of her bed tightly. She had a permanent frown and was breathing heavily. Katya inspected Trixie's abdomen, putting pressure on different places. Nothing seemed out of place, and yet the blonde was asking for more pain killers. Kutner, Foreman and Katya tried to come up with something, decide which exam they should do to find out what was wrong. Everyone was tired and stressed out, they had trouble to calm down and look at the situation objectively. Trixie was listening to what they were saying and even if her brain was busy with the pain she had an idea.

"My appendix. It's my appendix, nothing to do with the stabbing" She let out. Katya didn't believe it until she did an ultrasound, and Trixie's appendix was indeed inflamed. She and the entire team felt so dumb, it was a mere coincidence. They installed Trixie in the surgery room and once again Katya took over and removed the appendix. It was five am when she finished, and she told Foreman and Kutner to go home. Katya sat next to Trixie's bed and tried to stay up for when she would wake up, but inevitably her eyes fluttered shut and she fell in a deep sleep.

When Trixie's anesthesia faded off the sun was just beginning to shine in the room. The pain was over, and she was relieved since it was the most unbearable thing she ever experienced. She looked around and saw her boss sleeping on a chair. Her eyebrows were furrowed and she had pouty lips. Katya's arms were wrapped around herself, and Trixie assumed she must have been cold. She thought that the blonde looked so cute like that, while nothing disturbed her mind. The sun kept rising up and it soon illuminated Katya's face. She frowned and turned to the side, but the small chair she was on didn't allow much movement so she woke up. Trixie erased her smile and looked down at her arm, which was still hooked up on an IV bag.

"No more pain?" Katya asked in a hoarse voice as she stood up.
"No" Trixie mumbled. Katya pushed the hospital gown she was wearing to look at her stitches. She put gloves on and applied some cream on it before covering it with a bandage. She then removed Trixie's catheter and brought her clothes to the bed.
"Dress up and I'll drive you home" Katya instructed and left the room. Trixie slowly put her clothes back on, thinking about how cold Katya was being. But then again it was a good thing, she wouldn't catch feelings for someone like that. Allegedly.

When she tried to stand up Trixie immediately felt light headed. She didn't want to ask for help but she had no choice, so she called Katya who held her until they reached her car.

"You're off until next Monday." Katya said as Trixie opened her front door.
"Okay, thank you. Goodbye"

Katya nodded and turned around to walk back to her car. Trixie locked her apartment and walked until she crashed in her bed. She immediately started crying in her pillow. It was so unfair, everything Katya did made her feel emotional in a good or bad way while the older woman couldn't be more unbothered. Trixie was hurting, and she seriously started considering quitting for her own good.
