Chapter 6

Uo's feet were aching as she and Kyo stood in line for the sledding competition. She checked her phone, they have been standing in line for 20 minutes. But it felt like forever.

"Can't this line go any damn faster." Kyo growled.

Uo sighed in exasperation. Out of all the people in the world I'm stuck with him for a day.

"Would you just be patient for once?" Uo mumbled.

Kyo glared at her."Its not my fault we've been standing here for 20 damn minutes."

Uo rolled her eyes and ignored him. 2 minutes later the line started moving faster.

"Finally!" Kyo muttered.

Once they got to the receptionist desk the lady gave us our boards and goggles.

She looked at Uo frowning. "Aren't you cold? Wearing those shorts." She pointed.

Uo looked down and shrugged. "I don't care, but that doesn't stop me from sledding right?"

The lady blinked. "Oh no of course not."

Uo smirked. "Good."

She went over the rules and what to avoid while they were sledding. The whole time Kyo wasn't paying attention and was getting u to an argument with the guy behind us.

"Thanks." Uo replied to the receptionist who nodded.

"What the hell you talking about? She ain't my girlfriend!" Kyo yelled.

"Well it seems like it." The guy snickered. "But if she isn't I guess you don't mind if I take her out for some fun, what do you think?"

Kyo's face darkened. This is Tohru's friend, I ain't gonna let him touch her. No matter how bitchy she is.

"You touch her I'm gonna throw you off the side of this damn mountain."

The guy laughed. "With what? Your muscles aren't even visible!"

"Look who's talking ya bastard. Your biceps aren't even bigger than a grape. Where do you work out? Ya grandma's house?" Kyo snarled.

Uo face slapped herself. "Kyo let's go." She said tugging him away.

The guy sneered. "Don't you talk about my grandma like that!"

"I just did." Kyo snickered as he was pulled away by Uo. "Let me go!" He brushed out of Uo's grip who shrugged

"Ya come back here I wasn't finished with you yet, carrot!" The guy shouted but Uo and Kyo were already out the building and on to the snowy hills.

"I'm surprised you didn't protest when I called you to follow me, orange top." Uo commented as she was adjusting her goggles.

Kyo signed. "Yeah well I guess that guy was getting boring to argue with."

Uo stopped. "That's the first."

"What do you mean?"

"Like you would usually retaliate and start a fist fight with a guy."

Kyo thought about it. "Why do you care, Yankee?"

She rolled her eyes. "Fine, I'm just saying. I was also waiting for you to talk back to me like that."

Kyo grumbled.

Uo started walking up the snowy hills. She was all ready with her coat, shorts, sled and goggles.

"You coming orange top?"

Kyo confidently got up and slipped on his goggles. "Yeah let's do this!" He grabbed his sled and ran up the hill, Uo following close behind.

Once they got up the hill they were panting.

"We... Shouldn't have... Ran." Kyo gasped for air.

"It was... Your idea." Uo panted.

"Shut up." Kyo grabbed his sled and got on, waiting for Uo. She did the same and sat a few feet away from Kyo.

"Ready?" She asked.

"Ready." Kyo smirked.

Uo narrowed her eyes. "Okay... 1... 2...-"

"3!" Kyo yelled then slid down the hill with lightning speed.

Uo raced after him. "You cheater!"

Kyo laughed sarcastically. "Race ya Yankee!"

Uo swerved past a drew and gained momentum as she leaned forwards. Her legs began to feel numb. She watched as Kyo slid in front of her spraying snow from his sled.

"Hey!" Uo spluttered.

"What was that?" Kyo chuckled.

The two of them raced down the hill avoiding trees and boulders. Uo was gaining on Kyo who was too busy mumbling about how he's gonna win. She leaned forward silently willing her sled to go faster.

Kyo turned to his right to see Uo beside him.

"Hey orange top!" She yelled.

"Yankee!" Kyo yelled back. He headed towards a snowy ramp and was sledding towards it.

Uo looked ahead to see where he'll land. She suddenly gasped, the ramp was gonna take Kyo flying over the frozen lake!

"Kyo! Watch out!" She shouted.

But he didn't listen he kept going, gaining speed every second. "Don't try to distract me from winning!"

"Kyo look-" she was cut off as she watched Kyo slide up the ramp, surprised.

He shrieked as he went flying over the frozen river, his sled railing behind him.

"Kyo!!" Uo screamed as she saw him hit the snowy ground on the other side of the lake with a thump. His body was still.
