Chapter 19

Kyo paced in his room back in forth, thinking about the dream he shared with Tohru last night. It was weird... Rainbow Unicorns??

He winced as he stubbed his toe on the side of his bed.

Kyo sighed. Yeah things aren't gonna work out for us Tohru.. I'm just gonna have to learn to let you go.

Suddenly someone knocked at the door,interrupting Kyo's thoughts.

"What?" He snapped, angry that his thoughts were disturbed.

"Oh um.." A soft voice mumbled from outside the door.

Shoot. Its Tohru.

Kyo opened the door, revealing a startled Tohru. Her hands carried a tray with a bowl of rice and food.

"Oh hi Kyo." She greeted.

"Uh hey." Kyo replied.

"I brought you some food, since you didn't come down for dinner." She handed the tray.

"Thanks." He mumbled. He placed the food tray on his desk.

Tohru stood there watching him awkwardly.

Kyo rolled his eyes. "Don't just stand there. Sit down."

She nodded and took a seat on his bed.

Kyo closed the door leaving a crack.

"So where'd you go?" Tohru asked after a few moments of silence. "You know.. When—"

"I know damn well what your talking about, you don't have to remind me." He growled.

Her eyes widened. "I'm sorry.. I shouldn't have said that.."

He shook his head. "Forget it." Kyo glanced at Tohru, her eyes full of worry. "I stumbled across Uo's house.. And she let me in and helped heal my wounds." He gestured to the scars on his arms.

"I didn't stay long." He continued. "I eventually left and now I'm here."

Tohru sighed. "I'm so glad your home Kyo." Without thinking she reached out and hugged him.

Poof

Tohru was left hugging an orange cat in her arms. Kyo purred.

"Please don't leave me again." Tohru sobbed in his fur.

Kyo felt shocked. "I thought your with Yuki.."

"I am." She said. "But that doesn't mean I can't care about you too."

Kyo's cat ears perked up. His eyes gazed up at Tohru full of hope. "So.. That means—"

She shook her head. "I'm sorry Kyo.. I hope you understand but I only see you as a brother.."

He nodded disappointed. "Okay, fine. I understand."

Poof

Tohru covered her eyes.

Kyo changed back to his normal form and got dressed quickly. "So.. Er.. Where's your boyfriend."

She took her hands off her eyes. "He's sleeping."

Kyo nodded. "Well um I gotta go sleep now.. And eat my late dinner."

"Of course." Tohru replied walking towards the door.

"Good night." Kyo mumbled.

Tohru turned around and smiled. "Good night." With that she walked out the room and closed the door.

Kyo grabbed the tray and started eating.

I won't be able to find another girl like Tohru... She's unique...

Tohru walked downstairs to where Shigure was watching TV in the living room.

"Hello Tohru." He said, taking his eyes off the screen.

"Hi Shigure." Tohru replied taking a seat on the floor.

He turned off the TV and stretched. "So, did you tell Kyo?"

Tohru nodded. "Yesterday I did.. And he ran away because he was upset that I was already with Yuki. That's why he came back today. Not yesterday."

"I see." Shigure said. "How is he taking it?"

"He's doing alright, I guess. I told him I only see him as a brother... I hope he'll be alright."

"I hope so too." Shigure glanced at the Christmas tree. "Oh! Don't forget Christmas is in two days."

"Two days??" Tohru exclaimed. "I haven't even bought gifts yet! Oh no!"

Shigure laughed. "Relax Tohru. I'm sure you'll have time tomorrow. Why don't you bring your friends too, Uo and Hana?"

"That's a great idea! Thanks so much." Tohru brightened.

"Your welcome. Anyways its getting late." Shigure looked at the clock. "You should go get some sleep since you have a lot to do tomorrow."

Tohru nodded. "Okay, good night Shigure!" She walked upstairs.

Before she went to her room, she went to go check on Yuki. Tohru opened his door quietly.

She saw him sleeping under his covers. Yuki's window was open, revealing the shining moon in the sky. His silver hair glowed in the moonlight.

"Good night Yuki." Tohru whispered, then closed the door.

She tiptoed into her room and changed into her nightgown.She crawled in her bed and held her mom's picture in her arms. After a short while, Tohru drifted off to sleep.
