one.

A week had passed since I had met Billy and it was my first official day at Woodsboro high. My arrival was a little later than scheduled because of a fever but it was what it was..

I ended up giving Billy the opportunity to explain himself by giving me a ride home. During the ride, he apologized for not mentioning the fact that he had a girlfriend. He also said that he had fallen out of love with her and didn't know how to end things. Billy also mentioned that he was serious about taking me out and asked if I would go out with him if his girlfriend wasn't in the picture.

The conversation got deeper than that. He told me what made him fall out of love with his girlfriend: Billy's mother left town because of his girlfriend's mother sleeping with his dad. There were other issues within their relationship but this was his final straw.

Truthfully, I gained some sympathy for him after hearing that. It just didn't change the fact that he lied. I didn't like that and I made sure to voice that opinion, to which he apologized. I wasn't able to answer him though. I was cut off by his cell phone ringing.

It was a hysterical Stu calling about Casey dumping seconds after we left for this football player named Steve. It was very messy. Our conversation was cut short and I was home seconds after that. Billy told me Stu needed him and was—again—sorry to cut our conversation short. I forgave him, gave him my number, went in the house and ignored him since.

"Oh shit!" This girl exclaimed.

We bumped into each other while walking. She was very pretty. She had sunset blonde hair, brown eyes, a slender figure and the coolest outfit. "Sorry, Love, are you okay?"

I nodded. "Yeah, I'm good, are you?"

"Yeah, I'm so sorry." She repeated. "Oh, you must be the new girl. My friends told me about you. I'm Tatum."

"Soleil." I greeted.

She nodded. "Do you know where you're headed? I can show you if you're lost."

"I'm supposed to be in creative writing with Mr. Springsteen."

"Oh, I'm going that way for study hall. Want me to show you where that is?"

I nodded desperately. After the end of the tour with Billy, along with my sudden absence, I forgot my way around the school. "Please."

"Oh great. Billy-Bum didn't give you a good tour." She scoffed. "Come on, Babe, I got you."

We began to walk through the halls, on our way to the staircase. I could remember that much. During that walk, tons of guys were whistling at Tatum and trying to get her attention. She didn't budge. She just kept going.

"I hear you used to cheer." Tatum attempted to make some small talk.

"Yea, that was the only school sport I did."

"Well we're down a few members and holding auditions for four spots this Friday. You should totally come." She flashed a quick smile. "Tumbling and flexibility's a plus but stunts and keeping a beat are a must. Good looks too but that has to be unofficial."

I kept myself from laughing at the "good looks" part. Most high school cheer squads went off of looks and a few other things besides capability.

"Oh, how'd you know who I was?"

Tatum shrugged. "I'm Stu's girlfriend. Stu's Billy's best friend. Our group hasn't stopped talking about you."

"Saying what?" I frowned.

She waved me off in a playful manner. "Relax, girl, it's been all good things. The guys won't stop talking about how cute you are. It kinda made me and Sid jealous."
