The air of the night felt like a blizzard on your skin; it pricked against it as if to warn you of the incoming storm. So with hurried yet quiet steps, you made your way towards the Mikaelson's mansion.

You softly knocked onto the wooden door and hummed along with the crickets as you waited for an answer, and it wasn't long before you received one. In a few seconds, Kol had sped down the stairs from his bedroom to the front door with a smile on his face.

"My darling, lovely to see you," he told you, before pulling you inside and away from the cold air of the night. Quickly, he led you to the living room wherein Elijah, Niklaus and Rebekah were chatting amongst themselves.

Across the room from the doorway, the sibling crowded a couch together, drinks in their hands. They continued to converse in serious tones as you made your way towards a single couch, Kol closely followed behind. Almost as if Klaus awaited for you to settle onto the brown cushions, he paused his chatter and smirked.

From the other couch, Klaus noticeably stared at you with amusement. It was his smile of his that would usually leave others coward and afraid, but you, unfazed. You'd grown too used to it recently.

"Hello, love," he began to speak with a lift of his drink. You shook your head. With the way his tone sounded, he wanted something.

"Nik, no," you said. Being in Elena's inner circle didn't exactly have many perks. After all, Klaus only wished for their demise, and if it wasn't for the universe bringing you and Kol together, your death would've already been collateral damage.

"Oh come on, love! A little juice, please," he pleaded with a cheeky smile still invaded on his face. 'A little juice' in Klaus' vocabulary was never 'little', he wanted to know all of Elena's plans, and he'd be determined until he does. But lucky for you, Kol always had your back, and he gave his word to protect you from his brother's incessant begs.

"I told you, I won't get in between you and the Salvatores. If they find out that I told you anything, they would kill me," the reason was very obvious: you valued your life, and if even, you preferred one team over the other, exposing any one's plan would leave you dead.

At your response, Klaus was both frustrated and pleased. Frustrated: because he was a curious cat and needed to know everything; but pleased: because your loyalty amused him. In a crowd of paranoid supernatural beings with heavy baggage, having someone to keep his brother's temper intact, and his own, was all he needed. It also happened to be the exact thing he needed to ensure he didn't rip another innocent's head off. But even so, he promised himself that if you more so had an ounce of thought to betray the Mikaelsons, he promised you wouldn't live to see tomorrow.

"Fine. Very well," he thought for a moment. His eyes scanned the room as if his paintings were to show him the words he searched for. Then, he smirked, "how would you like to be used as leverage? Surely, Elena cares about you to some extent. If not, I'll be the first to kill her myself. Kol without a you, would be my demise."

"Should I take that as a compliment?" 'Confused' wouldn't even describe the way you felt from his words. It was odd for someone to ask for consent to use you as leverage, and then detour their speech into implying that they weren't even sure if the person they would've used you against, would even care; let alone, the subtle comment about his enjoyment of your company. It was as if Klaus had no bone in his body to just give a single compliment without a threat or insensitive connective.

But somehow, you still considered his proposal. So, with an exaggerated sigh, you broke the thinking silence, "fine, but what would I get out of it?

With a cheeky grin, the hybrid planted his glass onto the wooden coffee table, and leant against the couch. "Another year to live," he negotiated. The eyebrows that rose on his forehead alerted that he was indeed, serious.
