DUTTY ROCK
by Sean Paul.
MY TAKE: This album is simply iconic. I wouldn't say it necessarily changed Reggae dancehall, but it gave it a big push in terms of the ways the international eye perceived it to be. There was an emotional stigma revolving in many of the songs in this album, which can be seen through the lyrics and iconic ass music videos. It gave Dancehall an emotional complexity, if one can say. This slick is the perfect example of the raw and gritty ness that Dancehall production had, highlighting the fact that it was indeed in its golden era. Sean Paul brought Dancehall to another level of mainstream with this album, and the influence it had in music in all genres is undeniable. Likewise with the broad statement that Jamaican culture deeply influential throughout the world.BEST SONG— I'm Still in Love With You.
[ AN HONORABLE MENTION: Gimme the Light. ]The sample, the music video, the aesthetic ... this song gives the gworls everything. I love the ultra melodic theme of rap, reggae, and R&B that this song possesses. Like, this is one of the songs that can be played at any occasion— wedding, cookout, the club. A definite mood booster.
UNDERRATED SONG— like glue.
An certified club banger. This will get a party going in a minute, and it's hard not to move your hips to it. Any and everybody can get busy to it!
WORST SONG— bubble.
I feel like the more you listen to this song, the more you can get into it. It's like with Kandi's song, "Legs, Hips, and Body."
RATING...
10/10!
