Chapter 20 ~ The Truth

~Makayla POV~

I had noticed Matthew had been acting differently. I went to ask Katherine if she had noticed but she was asleep. I decided I would try and go find Matthew. Luckily he had kept his location on. I went to where it said he was and I arrived at a cafe.

When I got there I looked in and saw him with another girl. They were talking and laughing. I knew it could be just him talking with a friend, so I went home.

~Time Skip~

The next day he went out again. So I followed him again. I ended up at the same cafe as yesterday and he was with the same girl. I spied on them till they left. They hugged each other goodbye and went their separate ways.

I hurried home and sat on the couch. Pretty soon Matthew arrived.

"Hey Matthew?" I asked

"Yeah?" he said

"Do you have any family or friends here?" I say

"Uh no, why do you ask?" he says

"Oh just was wondering," I said

This wasn't good. I knew I had to tell Katherine.

~Katherine POV~

I was sitting on my bed then Makayla came in and shut the door.

"Yes?" I say

"I have something to ask you?" she says

"Okay?" I say

"Have you been noticing Matthew has been acting a little different?" she asks

"Yeah, but it's probably nothing," I say

"Well..." she says and walks over to me.

She sat on my bed and opened up her phone. She then pulled up some pictures. I look closely and see it was Matthew and another girl. Makayla told me they hung out yesterday and today. So he did lie about yesterday.

"Maybe i-its just a f-family member or a f-friend," I stutter trying not to break into tears.

"I asked him if he had any family or friends here and he said no," she says

That's what pushed me over the edge. I started crying. Makayla embraced me in a hug. Pretty soon Robaire came in too and asked what happened. Makayla told him and came and sat on the other side of me and comforted me.

Pretty soon Matthew came in too.

"What happened?" he asks clueless

"You know what happened," Makayla says

"I don't, that's why I asked," he says

"This! This is why she is crying!" she says angrily and shows him the pictures.

"W-what. You were spying on me!" he says

"We had noticed you had been acting different and was always on your phone so I just went to check on you and that is what I found," she says

"She's just a friend!" he says

"Yeah right. WHY ARE YOU ALWAYS ON YOUR PHONE! YOU SAID YOU DIDN'T HAVE ANY FRIENDS HERE OR FAMILY! YOU LIAR!" she says angry

"I-I can explain," he defends

"No, we are going home tonight. Let's start packing guys," she says

We quickly packed our things even though Matthew was trying to stop us. Once we were ready we walked out the door to the car.

"Wait please don't go," he says

We just got in the car. But I noticed Makayla had stopped for a second.

"I told you not to break her heart," she said sternly. Then we left for the airport.
