"target locked, permission to fire" the dagger that he was twirling between his fingers stopped before he stabbed the table on someone's picture. he stood up looking up onto the big bright screens. a big smirk appeared on his lips as his eyes went down towards the files scattered on the table.

"permission granted"

as soon as the man stated those words, the trigger was pulled. the person made sure the silencer was placed correctly before she pulled the trigger. the bullet went through the target's head causing chaos throughout the building.

the target was having a meeting with their corporate members at that time. as soon as the target laid down on the floor with blood pooling around him around dozen of men in black entered the office meeting room.

"good job as always, miss baek" the voice from the in-ear said. the sniper that was on another building swiftly placed all the things back in her bag and slung it over her shoulder.

"give me a break, i really hate these jobs you gave me" she muttered while rolling her eyes in annoyance. the man on the other end chuckled darkly. "you're the best one for these kind of jobs, haewon. besides you're also getting paid handsomely, you know you got the most payment"

"yeah yeah, i guess you're right" she mumbled as she threw the bag inside the black bmw car that was parked outside of the building she was in before going inside and started the engine.

"was wondering, do you already have a partner haewon? even if you have you know you can't be with him, don't you?"

she didn't reply, instead she turned off the in-ear she was wearing and crushed it on the concrete ground with her heels. having soulmate or not it's her business.

in the world she's living, soulmates exists for each other. each person are bound with their own partner. that's just how the world works. she had heard much from the people around her on how they meet their soulmates. she believed different people have their own ways on how the soulmate signs lead them to their other half.

it's probably from the red strings of fates that'll lead to your soulmate if you're near him. or maybe having a timer on the wrists that could tell how much time left before meeting them. or maybe not seeing any colours until you see your soulmate.

as for baek haewon, she does have some signs. one of it being her left eye was the colour of her soulmate's- dark brown. which is quite common for most people. she wonders how is she going to find one. her normal eye colour was cerulean blue, having the traits of her father's eyes.

it's not like she really cared if she has one or not, but seeing other people with their other halves intrigued her. she has a friend who always talked about their soulmates and it was an interesting topic- to be honest.

she got out of the car and went into the cafe where she regularly goes throwing a quick smile towards the guy on the counter. he had a cute crescent eyes when he smiled. he gave the regular customer a small wave which she finds quite adorable.

"the regulars, miss haewon?" he asked- more like a statement actually. he pretty much knows what she likes. haewon chuckled and nodded her head. "please jeno, just haewon would be fine. you don't have to be formal to me, we're just about the same age" she said handing him the money

he laughed warmly and went to make her favourite hot drink. she went towards the seat next to the glass window and watched as the sky turned dark. she rested her arm on the table and placed her chin on her palm. her other hand tapped the table slowly.

the rain started to pour down. she stared the raindrops on the glass window as it ran down. the sound of the sky grumbling were heard then few lightning started to strike. her body flinched at the sound and quickly closed her eyes to calm herself down.

"haewon?" she turned towards the voice rather quickly- with her eyes still widened in shock. her body trembled a bit but went unnoticeable. "oh jeno, hey" she muttered sheepishly.

he placed her hot drink in front of her along with a slice of lava cake. she raised her left brow. "it's on me, don't worry"

"but-"

"just take it, haewon. you looked like you had a tiring day so i decided to treat you" he beamed a bright smile. "may i sit down with you?" he asked politely referring to the seat in front of her.

"well you can but don't you have customers to take orders?" she asked knowing too well there's not much people at this kind of hour and there's also jeno's coworker at the counter. he must've told him beforehand. he chuckled and shook his head before sitting down in front of her.

"do you still go to the university?" she asked as she took a sip from the drink. jeno smiled when she hummed in satisfaction from the drink. "yea i do. but you know i need more money to pay the expenses and all" he fiddled with his fingers as he talked.

she had known jeno for two years now ever since she found out about the cafe. not only the food and drinks were tasty here, there's also jeno who she can look at and her stress just goes away for the moment. she just likes how he blushes whenever she teased him about his handsome looks.

"i've been meaning to ask, haewon"

"shoot" he seemed hesitant his eyes went down to his hands that's on the table that's gripping a bottle of water.

"is the brown eye- your soulmate's?" he asked quietly but enough for her to hear. she raised her left brow and nodded. "it is"

he seemed to calm down a bit. he scratched the back of his neck. "if you don't mind me asking, do you go to a university or-"

"i work" she cut him off with a small smile on her lips. he stared at her face in admiration. "jeno quit looking at me like that, it's cute" she said and laughed when he looked away with his red ears.

"but if you're going to ask what's my line of work, it's quite complicated so i'd rather you not ask about it" the way she said it was quite intimidating with her usual smile on her lips so he nodded understanding her.

her fists clenched tight when there was thunder and tried her best not to show her fear to jeno. "w-well, i need to go now. see you another day, jeno" she finished off both the cake and drink before she stood up.

"be careful!" jeno followed her from behind and waved her goodbye when she turned back with a smile. "she's so pretty"

"i bet she already has a boyfriend" jeno's smile dropped and he turned around to face his friend on the counter who's wiping the glass.

"oh shut it, mark"
