Sam was at the building mentioned on the address. It was one out of four identical apartment buildings. She walked up to the elevator, pressed the number fourteen that was encircled in gold and waited until it reached the fourteenth floor.

When the elevator dinged and the doors opened up, she walked out and saw four apartment doors - 121A, 121B, 122A and 122B. She made her way to the door that said '121B' in gold lettering and rang the doorbell. No response. She placed her ear against the door and heard sounds of exploding and crashing. "Get that bitch," said a computerized man's voice.

A gamer, Sam mused.

She rang the bell again before banging on the door. The sounds stopped and she heard shuffling and muffled footsteps before the door opened, revealing a vibrant orange haired guy around the age of twenty with a confused expression on his face.

"Can I help you?" He asked, a smirk forming on his lips. His hand propped up against the side of the door.

"You are Michael, aren't you?" Sam asked checking her phone again to confirm that she hadn't made a mistake.

"Yes? Have we met?" The smirk vanished from his face. He surely would have remembered someone like her.

"No, I mean, I'm Sam? I emailed you about the apartment." She said in an 'isn't it obvious' tone.

"You're Sam?" Michael exclaimed, his jaw dropping.

"Well, yeah," Sam said defensively tucking a strand of her jet black hair behind her ear. "Why?"

"Well, you're a girl!" He exclaimed again, pointing almost accusingly at Sam.

"Oh my god, really? I didn't know!" Sam said sarcastically, faking a shocked expression. "This is sad. I've lived for nineteen years thinking I was a boy," she pouted, sarcasm oozing in every word she said.

Michael chuckled. "I'm sorry, I didn't expect, you know," he shrugged, "a girl to show up."

"Yeah, well here I am!" She said with a flourish of her hands. "So, aren't you going to let the lady in?" She asked with comically raised eyebrows ad hands on her hips.

He chuckled once again before letting her in.

"Uh, Sam?" He cleared his throat after closing the door.

"Hm?" She turned around to take in the content of the apartment - everything seemed to be in place. Not bad for a guy, she thought.

"You do know that if you live here you'll be sharing the apartment with me?" He asked her.

"Wait, what?" She turned around to face him.

"We'll have to share the apartment. It'll be like having sleepovers with me everyday." He joked.

"Damn it," She sighed. "I knew it was too good to be true." When she noticed Michael's slumped shoulders, she rushed to say, "No, no. Not like that. There's nothing wrong with you, I just thought, you know," She shrugged biting onto her bottom lip impulsively.

Michael nodded and smiled making her return the smile.

"Is the offer still up though?" She asked him.

"You want to stay?" He asked doubtfully with a raised eyebrow.

"Well, yeah if you're up for it," she said.

"Yay! I've got a new roomie! No wait, apartment-ie?" He cheered, skipping over to her and engulfing her in a tight bear hug.

"Can. Not. Breathe." Sam choked out making Michael laugh and let her go after apologizing.
