"Oh my gosh! What happened to you kids!?" The school nurse asked in concern, seeing as there were two students bringing bigger but knocked out students with them. Standing up from her desk, she walks towards them. Bruises and scratches were all seen on every kid that entered the clinic, something the nurse hadn't seen in a while especially with the new hall monitor around doing her job seriously to a high extent.

And yet the assigned monitor was here being one of the said kids aforementioned, with eyes reddish and puffy as if she took some time off and cried!

Ah yes, the school nurse. Since Lincoln was still new to middle school, he had a lot to learn. Thankfully, Lynn had already filled him with a dozen of information. And it wasn't what he expected. The way she talked about her made it seem like the nurse had this "I don't give a crap" personality, along with a narrow mind, which is definitely wrong for someone who works in a school. But from what he'd seen recently, she was pretty alright. Even quite lovely towards the students. Maybe it was so she could get a good impression. Lincoln didn't know and didn't care either, so long as she doesn't hurt anybody.

" So basically, these two chumps started assaulting my brother after he went to the toilet for some reason and they wouldn't admit defeat. Had to knock them out before they'd get to us again." Lynn explained, which was technically the truth. Her voice slightly cracked from replaying the moments in her mind earlier and she teared up slowly, but shook it off. Trying to stand strong as to not look weak, and also to not raise suspicion. You're not a baby, LJ. Stop.

The nurse shook her head in pity. "What a shame. You know you didn't have to do that right?" She said, seemingly more concerned for the unconscious students rather than the two bruised siblings. She furrowed her brows in disappointment, looking at the one person who had an obligation to prevent anything like that from happening.

She seemed to buy it, which is good. But the relief the siblings felt was slowly replaced with dread, guilt and in Lynn's case, anger. The brunette jock knew she was in the wrong for lying about such, and she can't blame the nurse for disgracing her. But out of all times they'd argue about her yet again, abrasive behavior, why can't she tend to the injured students first? As much as they both hated to lie, what else could they have done to save themselves and keep each other out of trouble?

Hey, at least this is better than them actually knowing the wide, and complex truth of the matter. Knowing how hot tempered his sister is, Lincoln crossed his fingers behind his back. Although, luck was rarely by his side, just this once. He hoped Lynn wouldn't go full blown frustrated and spit out the beans out of anger.

"You gotta cut me some slack, Nurse B! They were assaulting my brother-"

The nurse picked up the 2 boys, surprisingly having enough strength to carry the buff jock and the scrawny nerd all at once. " Still! Aren't you the one who's supposed to stop this!? You could've done your "Hall monitor" magic or something!" After putting the boys into neatly arranged beds, she gave a glare to Lynn before rubbing her temples in frustration. He could see her anger vein, and Lincoln patted her on the shoulder.

Oh, so that's why Lynn never spoke about her greatly. Lincoln could see now. That nurse was a foreshadower, someone who jumps into conclusion.

At this point, he noticed Lynn shaking in anger. She was frustrated as well. It seems reasonable. After all she went through, they still assumed her to be tough, to be the best. They forgot she was human, and with that, it irritated Lincoln. Then again, she constantly did brag about her strengths, so she was given a taste of her own medicine. But what kind of nurse would do that? Lincoln shook his head in shame. And even if their story is technically made up, it doesn't mean their bruises are!
