Connor and Myrah Aetos made a vow. To Christopher. To not just protect him from those who had taken him all those years ago and tortured him, but they vowed to kill the Zandailias' if they got too close to Christopher. But only he knew what they were capable of. And Christopher would never tell anyone.
However, if Christopher wanted to be the one to end the Zandailias' lives, then Connor and Myrah wouldn't stop him. They'd stand back and watch with delight.
When the pair entered the lounge room, they found Christopher there, sitting with their older sister, Delilah. She was speaking at him and seemed to be ranting about something. Christopher listened, his expression seeming empathetic. He just wanted to be spoken to, so he was fine with a rant.
"Our parents don't even know either. I'm afraid to tell them." She sighed, playing with Christopher's hair with one hand, holding his broken foot onto her lap with the other. He was staring at her intently, then he nodded.
"What are you afraid to tell them?" Myrah asked, taking a section of Christopher's hair, braiding it for fun. Connor also decided to take a bit of Christopher's hair to see what it felt like. "It's not very good to be afraid to tell parents anything."
"I'm having a baby." Delilah answered, keeping her tone down. "If I tell our parents, I can predict that everything I do will be controlled, even if I'm a married and grown woman. And it's not like I can get away from them, we live in the same house. I can't move out either, there's nowhere to move into." She groaned. "I've already looked everywhere."
"First of all, congratulations." Myrah said. "Second of all, how hard is it to hide a pregnancy? Is it easier for some than others?"
Delilah shrugged. She knew it would have to be told soon, it would be really strange if all of a sudden, she came home from the hospital with a baby. Not just that, she would be growing a bump.
"Baby?" He questioned, making a slight rocking gesture with his arms before taking a light grip on Myrah's skirt so she couldn't step away from him. Delilah smiled, nodding.
"Yes. In about seventh months, I'll be holding a little baby in my arms. You'll be the first family member to hold the baby." She responded, and Christopher nodded, looking at the wall behind Delilah. "Chris, you're looking at the wall. My eyes are a few centimetres to the right." Christopher shifted his only eye a few centimetres, making eye contact with his sister.
She pulled a small bracelet from her pocket, then put it on Christopher's wrist. He looked at it, then showed Myrah. It was small, rose-gold, and had a few little jewelled daisies on it. It looked very, very expensive.
"Very pretty. I've seen that bracelet." Myrah said, observing it. "Isn't it almost five hundred dollars?" She asked Delilah, who nodded. Christopher tried to take the bracelet off to give it back to Delilah, not thinking he deserved something so expensive. He had been home for three days.
"No, no. It's yours. I bought it for you for a reason." Delilah stopped him, shaking her head. "Keep it on. I know you won't break it." He was surprised by her trust in him. "I know it's only been three days, but you're my baby brother, not a stranger. I trust you with expensive items."
He looked surprised, staring at Delilah. She laughed. Connor and Myrah also laughed, adoring their brother. All three adored their brother. Connor rubbed Christopher's shoulders, just as the younger of the two looked at the bracelet again, his mouth slightly agape.
Bryson walked inside, and Christopher excitedly waved him over, showing him the bracelet. With a laugh, Bryson had a closer look at the bracelet, gently holding Christopher's wrist. Larisa soon followed suit and joined in with having a look at the bracelet.
