Wait what? They were both accepted? But He had tried not to be, he did terrible on all of the assignments, on purpose, just so this wouldn't happen. How did it happen?

"I think they made a mistake."

"Don't sound so down Venus," Flos said while rolling her eyes at him "now you can work hard towards becoming a special farmer." she began giggling.

"I like my farm, and the food dad makes on that farm."

"You'll be able to make your farm even better once you've finished your training."

Forgetting the paper still on the stall he went over to the bench that was nearby and sat down. Flos went to go and talk to a few of the people she had made friends with during training. He stared at his letter blankly, he didn't really want to think about it, in the end thinking about it would just put him in even more trouble than he'd already found himself in. Though he had to wonder how they got their results so fast, it couldn't have been more than an hour since their training even finished; he thought they would have needed a few days at least.

Unless the situation with the night kingdom was worse than it seemed but then why would they even bother with their fake trials. It's not like anyone here was a dragon shifter, other than him, so they wouldn't get in any trouble for it. Maybe a light slap on the wrist from the royal court to save their own reputation. It wouldn't be anything that would harm the academy in the long run.

Flos came back before he could get upset with himself for continuing to think about the reasons why he could have ever been accepted, she sat down beside him with a bit of a confused look on her face.

"So a lot of people were accepted"

"There were a lot of people in the middle group, not all of them would be rejected."

"No no that's not it. See look" she pointed over towards two people Venus didn't recognize, they both had curly brown hair and dark skin, they looked completely normal.
"What about them?" He looked at Flos and then turned back to looking at the two people.

"They were both accepted, even though they were both placed in the last group, a whole bunch of people in the last group were accepted."

"Huh, that is weird, maybe they just needed some extra hands around the place?"

"Why would they make them students though? Why not hire them as employees instead?"

Venus couldn't answer that so he just looked down to his hands that were resting on his lap, the most likely reason in Venus' eyes was the school wanted to use them as fodder. To try and thin out any enemies they're facing so the people who have a higher chance of living have an even higher chance of living. He looked back over to Flos, he didn't know if he wanted to voice that theory to her. She didn't seem like the kind of person who would be fine after hearing something like that, so he decided that it wouldn't be the best to tell her exactly what he was thinking. He just stayed quiet.

They sat in silence for a few minutes before he heard Flos yawn beside him "Tired?"

"Yeah," she took a small pause as her yawn came to an end. "I was supposed to sleep yesterday but I was too excited, it's been so long since I've been tired. I forgot how much it sucks." she scratched the side of her head and made a small smile "how about you? You don't look too tired. Just grumpy."

Venus let out a dry laugh "I slept last night so I'll be fine for the next while."

"Lucky. Hopefully they show us our dorm rooms soon or I'm going to fall asleep right here."
