Venus had the room to himself for a week, in that time he had gone home to get his things and give a proper goodbye to his dad. Who of course gave him as much homemade food as he could just before he left, trying but mostly failing to hold back tears. They had spent a few hours just walking around the farm together, Venus even played with the pantherillas for a while, he wouldn't admit it out loud but he would miss them, before they saw the car that was coming to pick him up. Venus wanted to promise him that he would be safe at the academy but he didn't like lying to the man that took him in and raised him.
He had also started his school schedule which was less like his previous school than he'd thought it would be, the weirdest part was that they didn't get to choose what classes they would take, they just all did the same classes at different times in the day. They also worked in partners for every class. He supposed when working with dragons and especially dragon shifters you would have to be good at putting up with other peoples less than pleasantness. He had been working with Flos and her partner for the classes they shared, and awkwardly worked with whatever group the instructors told him to in the others.
Unil the head lady had called him into her office once, thankfully it was only to talk about his lack of a roommate and class partner situation. She had told him that he would be getting a new roommate and they would become partners as soon as he moved in. Venus didn't really care, he just didn't want his new roommate to be loud and annoying as he didnt' think he could submit a formal complaint if he was. He would appreciate a roommate that brought him snacks though, he would be willing to overlook any loud and annoying traits in return for snacks.
He had just finished writing a letter to his dad, letting him know how things had been going like his dad had asked him to when he heard the door to his room open. He just kept working on folding his letter and sliding it into the envelope ignoring the door. Flos wasn't good at remembering to knock or text all of the time and he didn't mind her just walking in, knocking usually hurt his ears anyway. He hoped she had brought some of the good snacks from the cafeteria with her, he was a little bit hungry.
"Did you bring me food?" Venus yelled at the door as he wrote his dads address as neatly as he could with an almost dead pen.
"No, why would I do that?" A deep voice that was definitely not Flos' answered him, startling him enough to make him drop his pen. He watched the doorway carefully waiting for whoever was there to walk out from behind the wall. He heard a few bumps and grumbles and then heard the sound of something dragging across the floor. He waited in confusion until finally he saw someone. Unfortunately the person he sees is Cymbeline.
"Hey." Venus just stared at him, he could feel his eye twitch.
The universe hated him.
"No stop! Why are you doing that?" Venus yelled, and even though they were close together he would be surprised if Cymbeline bothered to listen.
"What do you mean? I'm just doing what the instructions tell me to." Cymbeline said as he pulled the petals off of the wrong ingredient and dropped them directly into their mostly completed healing salve, causing it to start smoking and quickly fill up the classroom. Venus groaned as they, along with all of the other classrooms in the area, had to be escorted to the other side of the building so that the building staff could clean it out properly and make it safe enough for students to re-enter.
"Why would you do that?" Venus practically seethed at him, barely withstanding the urge to grab and shake Cymbeline.
"Like I said, I was following the instructions."
"The instructions said to use coconut oil, not mountain flowers."
"Same colour, same thing." he said in a bored voice, Venus could tell he wasn't really paying attention. Maybe strangling him would make him realise what he had done.
