I knocked on Urokodaki's door and waited a few moments for it to open. After waiting, Urokodaki opened the door, "Welcome, come in." He stepped aside to let me in. "I haven't seen you for some time, nice of you to visit." He said as I went inside. "I had some stuff to do, don't be so salty." He laughed, "If you say so." I looked around nothing had changed, "So where are the demon children?" He let out a small laugh, "Demon children!? Where did that name come from?" I put my hands out, "Demon plus children equal demon children."
"You never will change," he responded shaking his head. We walked over to the room that I last saw them in, "They're both sleeping in here." Urokodaki opened the door so I could see into the room and as he said, they were both sleeping. The room had a small desk in it but not much else. Urokodaki motioned for me to go with him. We went to the main room and sat down. "I assume you would like to know what happened while you weren't here?" I nodded and he continued, "Honestly not much, the first day Tanjiro and I talked a bit. Nezuko was there as well but she had fallen asleep. That night we went back and performed a proper burial. We also got Nezuko her kimono and I made her a new muzzle. Tanjiro seemed to have played a bit into his demon instincts once but he did not harm anyone. Nezuko was able to intervene and stop him. That was about two weeks ago, they've been asleep ever since that night."
I was more surprised that they had been asleep than I was to Tanjiro playing into his demon instincts. I predicted it would happen eventually but for them to be asleep for almost a month was not expected. "Have you gotten any doctor to check on them or anything of that sort?" I asked trying to find the reason for this new information. Urokodaki nodded, "I did however he seemed to have found nothing wrong with either of the children. I believe they might be trying to regain their strength by sleeping instead of eating flesh." I was intrigued, these two had already defied many things that we thought to be true about demons. "How long do you predict them to be asleep for?" I asked Urokodaki, I knew that if they were asleep for too long my plans for the two would not be doable. Urokodaki answered my question, "I don't know, they could be asleep for a few more days or a whole year. I've never seen anything like this." "That presents a new problem," I took a brief pause, "If we, well you, were to train them you would need more time. Yet here they are and we do not know when they will wake up." Urokodaki just nodded, it seemed he was trying to find the same answer I was.
"Well," he started, "for now all we can do is wait. We should hope that they will eventually wake up. I believe though there are still some flaws in your own plan, aside from this of course." He added the last part with a small laugh. I understood what he meant, if we were to train the siblings in the art of demon slaying it would pose the problem of how to make them official demon slayers. Not only would it be hard to get them to be accepted seeing as they are demons, the whole area where the test takes place is surrounded by wisteria. "I would assume that even with my rank, I still could not convince the others to let a demon join the ranks of the demon slayers," I told Urokodaki who nodded in agreement. He thought for a moment before responding, "I believe we should take this process one step at a time. We have yet to know if either of them could even use a breathing technique or any sort of thing like that. Not only that but we also will have to tackle the task of bloody battles that are sure to come." I let out a sigh, when going into this I did not truly think everything through.
"Wait," I started remembering something, "earlier you said when Tanjiro started giving into his demon instincts Nezuko helped him?" Urokodaki nodded, "Yes she did, she stepped in front of Tanjiro and seemed to direct his attention elsewhere." I was a bit surprised to hear this, "That's odd, when I had originally found them Tanjiro was not able to keep his sister from attacking me. I had to knock her out." I paused to think a moment before starting again, "Do you think they have grown since then and are already training themselves?" Urokodaki was silent for a long moment after that. He seemed to have been thinking through all the information I had just given him.
"I suppose that may be the case, however, it could be even deeper than that," he said slowly as if he was still thinking of what he was going to say, "You told me that when you first found them they did not attack you at first, correct?" I nodded, I think understood where he was going with this, "You are saying that they are able to keep each other from attacking simply by themselves? That would mean they must have an extremely strong bond, being able to remind each other of other things." Urokodaki nodded, "Yes they must." I looked out the window to see the sun getting closer to the horizon, "I must be on my way now. I should leave before it gets dark." Urokodaki hummed in agreement as he stood up with me, "I will send a crow when the time comes that they wake up. From there we shall have to truly make a plan." We walked to the door together, "I shall be awaiting that day. But for now, I should be on my way. Thank you for letting me stay for so long." I could tell Urokodaki was smiling beneath his mask, "Goodbye for now." We waved goodbye before I headed back to where I was staying. Now I had to wait for who knows how long until the siblings woke up.
