Ch.6 The cannibal cook

After a while of walking, a growl was heard which startled the gang.

"What was that?" Bunny asked nervously.

"My stomach" Kitty said as she rubbed her tummy "I'm starving".

"Me too" Lizzie said "Anyone got anything to eat?"

Everyone searched their pockets and bags.

"No" they all said.

"I have gum" Maddie said as she pulled out a piece of gum.

"What flavor?" Lizzie asked.

"Cocoanut".

"Ick!" they all said.

"We gotta find some better food" Cari said.

"But where?" Tammy asked "I don't think there's any food around here".

"I think I know a place" Dina said.

"Where?"

"The Duchess's house".

"The Duchess?"

"Yeah, when she babysat for me, she has a lot of these good foods that the cook made, except for the soup".

"You really think she has food for us?" Kitty asked.

"I think".

"Well it's worth a shot" Alistair said as they made it to the Duchess's house. The house looked the same except for the dead trees around it. Alistair went up and knocked the door, expecting to hear some sneezing and yelling, but they didn't hear anything.

"It's quiet" Marchness said "Too quiet".

"Maybe they're not here" Tony guessed.

"Duchess" Alistair called as he opened the door slowly, he looked around, but the Duchess and the cook weren't there.

"Hello?" they all called, but no answer.

"I guess they're not here" Maddie said.

"Great" Kitty said "Let's take all the food before they come back".

"Kitty" Lizzie hissed "We don't steal".

"Neither do I" Kitty said "But we need food".

Kitty opened a cupboard and found a jar full of beans.

"Oh what the heck" Kitty said as she took the beans.

Lizzie sighed as everyone started to look for food.

"Yes!" Lizzie smiled when she opened the fridge and found some tarts. Everyone found some food and stuffed them in their bags while Maddie stuffed them in her hat. But then, they heard footsteps coming down stairs, they turned and saw the cook coming down stair with a large bloody knife in her hand.

"Oh" Alistair suddenly gasped "Cook, we didn't know you were here".

"Stealing food eh?" the cook said in a scratchy voice.

"Well we, uh, we just need food" Maddie said "We're starving".

"Nobody steals my food" cook said.

"Well can we have some?" Alistair said.

But the cook went closer to him and sniffed the air.

"You smell tasty" she grinned "I bet you'll taste great with pepper".

"Um" Alistair said as he back up, feeling a bit scared "Look, can we just have some of your food?"

"I would love to chomp on your bones" cook said as she raised her knife to stab him, but Alistair quickly moved out of the way as the cook's knife stabbed the counter.

"Cook!" everyone yelled.

"Come here my little piggies" the cook grinned as she wiggled her crooked finger "Give mama some bacon".

She raised the knife again, but they moved out of the way. But as they moved, Bunny bumped into a shelf and knocked over a pot, the pot fell onto the floor and some bones came out from the pot.

"Are those, human bones?" Lizzie gasped.

"I save them to chew on" the cook said.

The Wonderlandians then ran out the house, but the cook went after them.

"Come back here meals!" she called "I wanna deep fry your ears!"

But they just kept running from the cook until they hid behind some bushes and trees. The cook then stopped when they disappeared.

"I know you guys are here" she sang in her scratchy voice "I can smell your flesh and blood".

The Wonderlandians held their breath as the cook sniffed the air for their scent. Dina then got an idea, she came out from her hiding spot and in front of the cook.

"Dina!" Tammy hissed.

"Ah, Miss Dormouse" the cook said "I do love a good mouse burger".

But Dina quickly used her pepper grinder to shoot the cook.

"Pepper!" the cook cried as she sneezed and ran off, still sneezing.

Everyone then came out from their hiding spots.

"Wow" Alistair said "Nice one Dina".

"I know" Dian grinned.

"Man" Kitty said "I can't believe she tried to eat us".

"Well she did wanted to make me into a stew the last time we saw her" Bunny said.

"But she's gone now" Cari said "Hopefully".

"But on the bright side" Maddie said "We've got food now".

Yikes! That cook wanted to deep fry their ears? Eww
