"You followed us here McAllister? Have you stooped that low?", I said in a heated tone. "No one's talking to you so shut it.", he told me. He made his way to Yara and grabbed both her hands but said in a beggingly, "Yara, just say yes. I've been running after you since so long but you won't listen, what am I doing wrong, huh? Just say yes."

Yara snatched her hands away from his grip and said angrily, "Can't you take a hint. I despise you and always will. Leave me alone."

She started walking away when Dirk pulled her back with her hand. Yara stared into his eyes with pure agony and yelled, "Get your hands away from me."

I came between the two and yanked their hands apart, pulling Yara aside, "Ever heard of decency, Dirk? Just leave us."

Yara and I started walking away from him. Forget the shortcut, we just have to get away from this jerk. "WHY AM I NOT GOOD ENOUGH YARA? TELL ME WHY?", he yelled from behind us.

His yell wasn't angry but pleading. It had now started raining, and heavily. We ignored his desperate questions and kept walking fast, trying to get shelter from the rain.

Dirk started walking towards us and said, "Yara, give me a chance please-", when all of a sudden his voice went from a low tone to an extremely painful scream. We turned around to see the same gruff looking man, had now leapt onto Dirk, biting into him.

His howling for rescue mixed with the sound of the rain startled Yara and I. The man had now bitten into Dirk's neck and his screams had died down. Blood was gushing out onto the soaked pavement of the alley, and the man was tearing his flesh apart, exposing all kinds of muscles underneath. It had become a bloodbath.

The man now looked up from the still, lifeless body of Dirk and laid his grey, red rimmed eyes onto us. His face was smeared with blood and his pale skin resembled as if a dead person had woken up from his grave. But all in all, his face now bore one expression, hunger and thirst for blood. A low grunt escaped his mouth. He began to slowly get up and his dislocated shoulders were visible.

I backed out. "Yara, run.", I whispered as low as I could. Yara was looking too freighted and frail to move. She stood there, with rain-drops streaming down her face in between which were tears of terror. "I-I-", she let out a shaky breath. Before I could do anything, the man (is it even a man?) began running towards her. Though panic-stricken, I tried to think on my feet. I looked over to see a metal rod leaning beside a hardware store and grabbed it.

I smashed that rod against the man's head, just as he was about to attack Yara. Blood splattered all over our faces but the man fell to the ground, unmoving.

I let out a sigh of relief. My mind was blank but the one thought that occurred was, Had I killed a man? I threw the bloody rod on the ground and looked over to Yara. She had completely frozen.

"Yara!", I shook her. She finally came to her senses and hugged me. "You just saved my life, thank you!". I just nodded when I looked over to see the man's body, "What was with this guy?", I asked. "Should we call the police?", Yara asked, looking over at Dirk's still body. "Ya I think so, let's get outta here at first.", I said in a timid voice. Was I gonna get charged for murder

We made our way on to the main street when we saw chaos. Cars were tumbled over on the main road. The sounds were filled with sirens of police cars and ambulances. We saw people, like the gruff man, attacking others while some ran and screamed for their life.

A scared looking blonde woman was with her little daughter, backing away from a figure of the man approaching them. She was screaming and crying while her daughter buried her face into the woman's chest. The last thing I saw was the man leap on to her and while she let out an ear- piercing cry. Just then a car blocked our view and crashed right in front of us, into a streetlight.

A man opened the door and immediately fell to the ground. He was clutching his left arm but, no, there was no arm. The man was wailing in pain as he tried to stop the bleeding from his elbow. I felt tears well up in my eyes. "HELP ME!", he yelled at us. Now his blood was going into the drain along with the rain water, near the pavement.

Yara started to move towards him when I pulled her back. "He's not safe!", I told her, "Are you kidding, the man's dying and you're trying to pull me back?!", she yelled at me. "Yara he's infected-", I started when I was cut off from the man's coughs turned into growls. His pupil turned the same misty grey as the gruff man's did and he started running towards us. "RUN, RUN!", I screamed at Yara.

I started running on the road, with Yara following me and the man following her. I made a quick right turn as I tried to avoid mobs and other, people(?), like the man. I saw a black Honda Civic, which still had its driver's seat open.

"Quick, get in the car", I instructed to Yara. Wasting no time, she climbed on to the passenger's eat while I sat in the driver's locking the door. Unfortunately, as I tried starting the car, the man jumped on to the windshield, it's grey yet red rimmed eyes staring at us, with a desire for hunger.
