***Part 2***
After we got back down the mountain we walked down the High Road, past a big lake to the West Gate of Moria.
The rest of the party started looking around for the door while I waited by the lake with the hobbits.
"Hey guys" I said "Do you want to go paddle? My feet are killing me after that hike"
The hobbits all agreed and we sat on the edge of the lake with our feet in the cool water. Just then we felt something glide past, a dark and silent power half-hidden through swollen water; stunned we decided to shy some stones at it. All of a sudden we heard a roar and a monster rose out of the lake. It had a vaguely anthropoid outline, but with an octopus-like head whose face was a mass of tentacles.
As soon as it appeared my mind rebelled at witnessing such immeasurable hideousness. I could feel the weight of its presence on my mind burning itself into my memory. A noise appeared to approach me from a vast distance, it was only with time that I recognised it as my own scream.
"Don't you go frettin' misser Gimli" said Sam "this ere's jus a regular euclidean beastie"
I snapped out of it and focused on the mass of tentacles. "Oh sorry Sam" I said "you're right. I'm going to go fight it"
I waded out further into the lake and swung my axe, chopping at the swirling tentacles. I almost had it when the monster reared up and knocked me back onto the road. Just then the rest of the party arrived.
"I can't leave you alone for a minute can I?" Said Gandalf "Quick Legolas shoot it in the eyes"
I brushed the creature's slime from my face and wiped off my axe. "That's impossible" I said "even for an elf"
"It's not impossible" Legolas grinned "I used to bullseye children of ungoliant with my bow back home. They're not much bigger than it's eyes".
I watched as Legolas quickly fired off 2 arrows and pierce the Watcher in its eyes. The rest of the party let out a cheer but the creature just grew more enraged and charged blindly towards us.
"Yeah great job Legolas" I said before running for higher ground. Just then the moon came out from behind a cloud and on the side of the mountain the outline of a door appeared. We ran to it with the monster thrashing in our wake.
"How do we open it?" I screamed pushing at it.
"Let me see" Gandalf said "Ok the inscription says Ennyn Durin Aran Moria. Pedo Mellon a Minno... Oh it's opening, must be automatic."
The giant stone doors opened wide as we all rushed through just ahead of the monster.
"Wait, just like that" I said "Isn't there a code or something?"
"No Gimli" Aragorn said "It's a door. Door's open"
