Jax's POV
I banged my fist against my desk in frustration.
The desk shook in impact.
It has been a couple of days since the day Lilia has been kidnapped and we have yet to find any leads to where she is.
I yelled at frustration and grabbed things I can get my hands on and brutally threw it across the room.
I was seething with anger.
I was angry that we have no lead to where Lilia is.
I was angry at the crazy bastard who took my mate from me.
I was even more angry at myself for saying those disgusting words that came out of my mouth to Lilia before she had disappeared.
But anger was not what overcame my frustration, it was fear.
Fear that Lilia will be hurt.
Fear that Lilia will be touched by the bastard who took her from me.
Fear that Lilia is desperately calling for me for help.
And most of all, I fear that I will be too late for her when she calls for me.
Please, oh, Moon Goddess, please grant me the wish to find my mate, for I would be eternally grateful to you.
I closed my eyes and began praying to the Moon Goddess.
I looked up to the dark sky and realized I had subconsciously walked out of the pack house and now in front of the river that Lilia was last seen from.
I kneeled down and stared at myself through the reflection of the water.
I was so focused on contemplating what to do next that I was so startled when a blonde young girl with crystal blue eyes, who looked like she was no older than 10 years of age, surfaced up from the water.
I backed away and place my hand over my erratic heart that was beating in astonishment.
Then I saw a tail underneath the young girl's body.
"Mermaid" I murmured to myself but the young girl heard what I said and nodded to my assumption.
"I am Amaltheia. And you are?" the young girl asked.
"I am Alpha Xavier Jaxon Megalos. Alpha King of the Werewolves."
She bowed her head slightly in recognition but right after she bowed, she stared at me.
After a while of analyzing me, she asked, "Alpha Xiaver, what seems to be troubling you?"
I sighed and gave a slight smile to her.
Instead of answering her question I asked, "Amaltheia, your name means to soothe, is it not?"
She giggled innocently, "Yes, many people found comfort in this particular side of the river because I'm always here, creating a soothing atmosphere."
I nodded but something dawned to me and I spring up as if the light bulb on top of my head light up.
"Amaltheia, were you here a couple of days ago?"
She nodded.
"Do you notice a beautiful lady who was here a couple of days ago with black- no, blonde hair?"
That reminded me that I had forgotten to ask Lilia about her sudden hair change.
It was certainly abnormal and I need to know what she is because sirens typically don't change hair colors simply like that.
'After.' Bruce said, interrupting my thoughts.
' We have to find her safe and sound first and foremost' Bruce growled in my thoughts.
I nodded to my wolf who I realized, was surprisingly quiet the couple of days Lilia was gone.
She giggled when she saw me staring into space and talking to my wolf but after recollecting herself she smiled at me.
"You mean, Princess Astrae? Yeah I saw her and I was so close of luring her into the river so she can play with me."
Then her smile faltered, "But there was a bad guy who knocked her out and took her away from me!"
I was about to yell out that Lilia wasn't hers but indeed mine but I let it slide since she is a child and she is telling me useful information.
"Amaltheia, do you know where the bad guy went?" I asked in urgency.
She nodded and beamed to me, "Yeah he went that way"
She pointed to the empty trail to my right and she then said, "He also brought in reinforcements because I saw a couple of guys get out of a white van and helping him bring Princess Astrae inside the car."
My fists clenched in anger.
That means we had returned to square one.
And here I thought I'll have some sort of lead.
I thanked Amaltheia for her cooperation and I began walking towards the pack house before Amaltheia screamed something.
I stopped in my tracks and returned to my current position and kneeled in front of Amaltheia.
I tried to calm my anger of yet another failure of finding a lead to where Lilia is and I recompose myself when I made eye contact with the soothing eyes of Amaltheia.
In my most calmest voice I asked, "What is it?"
She beamed, "I remembered something. I know who took Princess Astrae!"
My eyes widened but I recomposed myself and calmly asked, "Who is it?"
There was a silence that lasted for a few seconds but it felt eternity to me and nothing prepared me when she had said his name.
The name that I told myself to forget because he was someone I used to looked up to.
He was my trusted ally.
He was my companion back in the days of courting girls.
He used to always hang out with me and James.
We used to call each other brothers and mean it.
I stared at Amaltheia when she said the name of my ex-best friend.
"It's Alpha Ian Santini."
