I woke to faint whimpering, but it wasn't Shawn. I could hear Jordan murmur Miranda's name like she was having a nightmare. I climb out of bed and feel my way toward Jordan's room across the hall.
I enter her room, sit on the edge of her bed and gently shake her shoulder. "I'm sorry I woke you. I'll be okay," she chokes quietly and I feel her roll away from me.

I climb in and cuddle up at her back. She lets out a calming breath and hugs my hand to her chest. "Is this okay," I ask in a soothing whisper. "I'm still trying to figure out how to parent a teenager."

"This is the most motherly comfort I've ever had," she chokes in a whisper. "Thank you."

"Don't be afraid to come get me if you need to talk or if you can't sleep," I say quietly and she lets out a relieved breath.

I woke up with intense nausea and my breaths were shaky. I sit up, hoping to get passed it. I feel Jordan sit up beside me and rubs my back comfortly. "Mom," she asks with concern.

"I'm okay," I say in a breathy tone, reassuring her.

"Do you need me to get dad," she asks with worry in her tone as I lean a little against her. I nod lightly and she rubs gingerly at my stomach. "Dad!"

Moments later I hear Shawn run in the room and she presses her fingers on the inside of my wrist to help the nausea. "What's wrong with mom," Jordan chokes in a scared whisper.

"The baby is attaching to the lining of her uterus which can cause nausea for most women in their first trimester," Shawn explains softly as I groan with relief from the nausea. "There's a pressure point in the inside of the wrist that helps subside the nausea."

I feel Jordan hug at my back and I rub my hand over her arms around my waist. "How was the rest of the night for you? Sleep better," I ask in a shaky breath.

"The best I've had in my life," she chokes with relief. "I feel safe here and I don't want to lose it."

"You're stuck with us baby girl," I say with a smile and she lets out a laugh. "Now come down for some breakfast. Your dad makes the best pancakes ever."

"That's because you never had my mother's pancakes or you'd say hers were the best," Shawn says and kisses my forehead. "You okay to walk?"

"Yeah I'm okay," I say softly and give her a kiss.

Together, the three of us walk down to the kitchen. I could smell breakfast already being made and it was delicious. Aside from breakfast cooking I could smell orchids and walk up to Melanie at the stove. She gives my forehead a kiss and feeds me a strip of bacon.

"I've been craving for bacon, thank you," I say with a smile as I steal another strip.

"You're welcome," she says kissing my cheek. "Hey Jordan. How was your first night?"

"I had a nightmare, but mom helped me sleep the rest of the night," Jordan says softly. I hear her sniffle as she continues, "I haven't felt loved by anyone aside from Miranda and it feels good. I don't know what I'd be doing right now if you and dad didn't show up when you did."

Her sobs are muffled and I could smell Shawn next to her. "Why didn't she give me to you if she didn't want me," Jordan asks in broken sobs.

"I've been trying to come up with a way to tell you this and there is no easy way for me to say this," Shawn chokes in a soothing whisper. "Beth told me, after we got home, that your mother's parents called her the day you were born. They told her she died and with you here she believes it's because she died giving birth to you. It wasn't that she didn't want you."
