Abbigail

We partied long into the night. I was feeling tired a few hours into the reception and curled up in a chair for a quick nap. I must have slept longer than I thought because I woke up covered in Shawn's uniform jacket.

There was some light music playing and quiet conversations in the hall. I slip her jacket on and Shelby lays her head in my lap. I scratch behind her ear and she leads me to Shawn. I walk into her arms and press my face in her neck.

I breathe in her sweet smell of vanilla and lavender and let out a content sigh. She rubs my back and I lower my head to her chest. I still felt a little tired and let out a tired sigh. "Did you sleep okay? I tried to keep things quiet so you could sleep," Shawn says in a soothing tone.

"I did, thank you," I say quietly. "I'm still tired though."

"Would you like to leave? Most of the guests are already gone and Melanie just offered to finish taking care of things here so I could get you out of here," she says softly kissing the top of my head.

"You sound tired, how far is your grandmother's cabin," I ask quietly.

"An hours drive from here," she says with a yawn.

"Why don't we leave in the morning? I don't want you driving this late and tired," I say softly and give her a kiss.

"I'll take care of things here, go get some sleep," Melanie says softly and Shawn thanks her.

Together we leave the reception hall and our sisters offer us a ride home. We ride in the back and I lay my head on her shoulder. She holds me close to her and we both let out relaxed sighs. I close my eyes and let sleep take over.

I woke the next morning still in my dress and Shawn's jacket. Shawn was next to me still in her uniform and by the feel of her even breaths, she was still asleep.

I slip off the bed, hopefully not waking her and slip out of my clothes. I smile while biting my lower lip and straddle Shawn's lap carefully as she appears to still be asleep. I work at the buttons of her shirt and shriek as she rolls, pinning me beneath her.

Our fingers lace over my head and Shawn kisses me passionately. I wrap my legs around her waist and pull her body down on top of me. Her groin presses against mine and I moan in her mouth.

I press my hips against hers and feel as she starts to erect against her pants. Our bedroom door opens and quickly closes. We break from our kiss, both out of breath and sigh in annoyance. I feel her soften, mood lost and I give her a kiss. "We'll be alone soon," I say softly, squeezing my thighs around her waist. "Let's take a shower, have breakfast and then we can leave."

"I like the sound of that, Mrs. Andersen," Shawn says and I can hear the joy in her tone.

I couldn't stop the smile even if I wanted to. "We're really married," I say with a laugh. "You were right, getting married was exactly what we needed to brighten our lives."

"Will you leave me if I can't give you a family," she asks in a choked whisper.
I roll her on her back and feel her face. She was serious and her eyes were wet with unshed tears. Tears fill my eyes that she would even ask that, but I understand why she did. I bring her hand to my stomach and say in a choked whisper, "You, Shawn, are my family. I don't need biological children to have a family with you, but I know if we give it time, we'll have another chance at getting pregnant."

I give a light smile before climbing off her and entering our bathroom. I remove the rest of my clothes and step into the shower. Moments later I feel Shawn enter the shower and hug at my back. She brings her hands to caress my stomach and says in a choked whisper, "I'm sorry. It's been eating me since we lost the twins. It's also another reason I couldn't sleep the other night. The thought of you leaving scared me Abbigail and I don't want to lose you."
