Chapter 7

Imani POV

After sliding on my black hoodie, I make my way to the bathroom to do my hair.

I put my hoodie on first so I don't mess up my hair and also I'm not really doing anything extra with it anyway.

I take my black silk bonnet off and my curly thick hair falls out to which it reaches my breast. I take my spray which is filled with water and some oils and I spray it on my hair. I part my hair and start to detangle it and put some leave-in conditioner in and start to brush it through. I put my hair back and put it in a curly bun with some wet loose curls hanging out.

I waking back into my room and get my stuff to head out and walk to school. As I'm about to walk out my bedroom door I get a text.

I grab my stuff and tell sky to grab hers and that she is riding with me today.

My dads gf and her children are visiting back home, Mississippi , and will be gone the whole week. My brother is already at school because his starts earlier than mines and my dad is already at work.

Me and sky walk out the front door, im already bringing sky knowing he will say yes but also hoping that he actually does.

I pick sky up in my arm and walk up to his window. He rolls it down. " hey, um can my lil sis ride with us and can you drop her off? my dad is already at work and his gf and her kids aren't here to drop her off. Soooo... ummm please?" I say ranting, with a cheeky smile. " pleaseeee" sky says, also with a cheeky smile.

Gio looks at the both of us, " yea, I don't mind" he says sticking his arm out to tickle sky. She starts to giggle. " thank youuu" I say leaning in to kiss his cheek.

I put sky in the back seat and make my way over to the passenger side. I buckle in and send gio the address to her school while he drives off.

" so, you're sky right?" Gio asks looking at sky through the mirror. Sky looks up from the video she is watching on my phone at him. " yup" sky says popping the p. "You're Giovanni?" She asks him.

"Yup" he says popping the p just like her. She giggles and goes back to watching her video.

He smiles at her then looks back at the road. " y'all ate?" He asks. I turn my head to him. " yea." I say .

" what y'all ate?" He says and looks at me for a second before turning his eyes back to the wet road.

It was raining last night. So today was grey clouds, wet roads, cold air that smelled like rain. I love it.

" cereal." I say turning my head from him and looking out the window.

We drive for 2 more minutes and then he pulls into a McDonald's drive through.

" you don't hav-" I get cut off by the worker on the speaker. " hi, welcome to McDonald's what can I get for you?"
