I was skeptical about Maverick.

Humans were not our friends. They cut down our food supply, they massacred my brother for show, and then we have to move to other realms.

I despise humans.

As soon as Maverick asked how humans didn't find us, I couldn't control my temper.

I jumped on him, knife in hand.

I startled him and his eyes became wide with fear.

"If you dare tell your kind about us, I will find you. I will find you and make sure that you meet your end.
Do you understand?"

Maverick shook his head and let out a long shiver after I dropped him.

"I'm sorry." Maverick said.

"For what? You didn't do anything."

"You lost someone or something to us, didn't you?"

"That is none of your concern."

I never liked talking about my brother. He died a hero. He went to the surface to go fishing for some of the villagers, and there was a human vessel. They saw him. They pierced him with their hooks. He fought bravely as my father and I watched in terror in the safety of the shadows. He tried to fight back, but he was outnumbered. The humans pulled him aboard their vessel. They must have thought they we were a type of fish, because the next day, divers of all sorts showed up. Our realm was too deep for them to get to. Ever since my brothers death, I have hated humans. They are sneaky and cruel beings.

I showed Maverick around the city.

He was in awe.

He said that our creatures were nothing like the creatures above the sea.

Hazel and his friends would be back soon.

For once, I was starting to like humans.
