05.05.2023: Hello! This was supposed to be uploaded in 2022 few months later the book is done, but i kinda forgot about this ;-;.... So here's another old author's note! Thank you for reading <3
There isn't that much I was supposed to add, but this list was supposed to be for me to write down to take note on what to put within the book.
Thank you so much for your support! Glad you like this book I put almost a year on.
• The color Gold.
- This is a symbolism of the 50th anniversary of something.
- Ignore the fact it was supposed for be for wedding as well, because the countries in ASEAN has a lot of traditions involving gold-related palaces. Don't look at me like an idiot, I know.• The water fight.
- As a tradition in the Indochina region, more specifically in Thailand, the Songkran festival is an activity celebrating the New Years in some calendars in South and Southeast Asia. As widely known, this is celebrated with everyone throwing water to each other and playing around with water guns and buckets of water—as shown here in the book.• National flowers.
- When ASEAN entered the party place or whatever, the flowers both directly and indirectly elaborated are actually the national flowers of the countries in ASEAN.• Cuisine.
- Southeast Asia is home to a lot, and I mean a ton of food and recipes. The ones referred in the cooking competition are some foods that are popular in the region• Merlion legend.
- The story stated behind the picture between ASEAN and Singapore is basically a whole metaphor, but rewritten into a part of the Merlion legend.• Time capsules.
- Not really a Southeast Asian reference at all, but remember that the United Nations mentioned something relating to "an envelope in a time capsule found by NATO"? Time capsules are basically capsules buried or hidden for someone else to see it in the future, though in SEATO's case, he hid it in NATO's cabinet lolThere are also more references in this book, but I'd rather leave it up to your interpretation. I don't think anyone would care about that, anyway.
I apologize if I forget other cultural references to add in this book. 10 countries is a lot to push through, and this is intentionally supposed to be a oneshot for Haystack. I dont think I can fit everything I know into this book, so my apologies. I promise to add more cultural references in the future! :D
Thank you for reading, it's been fun making this despite how many times I had to back off this project. Fingers crossed I won't have to suffer the same thing again with the new fic I'm working on LMAO
This will be my last fanfic following a different timeline, since all of my future CH books are planned to be books that follows an actual storyline and lore. I've already added parts of that in this book, but it's best to implement it in full in New Start (still unfinal title btw). I'm excited to go and start them already since it would be a new challenge for me, if I can have a consistent storyline.
I'm glad to be writing this for the past 8 months. Working on this is so hard for me due to a lot of teenager drama and school work dragging me down to do this project. I wanted to finish this by December of last year, but I can't ever since I moved places due to family issues. My family literally destroyed my Wattpad schedule so I have to drop off this book for a bit.
Other than that, thank you for reading and the amount of support. You're always loved, and hope to see you soon. :D
