My Glue (A Newt Fanfic)

Greenie

It's been a month since I got here. So far I haven't encountered any Grievers on my runs and everybody has stayed safe and things have gone as normal. Some people are still a little off by having only one girl but I deal with it.Today we are supposed to get a new Greenie. I hope it's a girl so that I'm not the only one but I also want it to be a guy because then there wouldn't be anybody hitting on Newt because he is so lovable."Bye Newt, I'll be back before dinner." I said as I kissed him and ran into the maze. I heard him say he loved me and I waved behind me not wanting to get behind. Minho was with me so we chatted for hours until we abruptly stopped. A Griever was in our path. It was just staring at us. As we started backing away slowly to not startle it. it let out a blood curdling scream. Minho and I turned tail and ran. I ran faster than I've ever ran before. The Griever was still behind us but it was far behind. We lost it around some corners and then we were back at the Glade. Minho ran to the map room. I was still recovering from running when I noticed I didn't see Newt when I got back. He always meets me when I get back. Then I saw it. I saw her. A girl. A girl that must be the new Greenie smiling and laughing with Newt at OUR tree. He didn't even notice that we were back. They just kept laughing and then she hugged him. She shucking hugged him! I was hurt.. I was hurt by him not telling her that he was taken, hurt by him not caring, hurt by her not caring, and hurt by him not noticing me. I just stood there standing. I couldn't believe it. She looked up and saw me surprised by another girl being here. She pointed at me and Newt looked up. He saw me waved and then looked worried. My face must have showed my pain because he got up. I wanted to stand there but then the girl got up and grabbed his am. Oh no. No she did not. I got angry. I was seriously pissed. So I started running. I ran right past them. Newt called my name but I didn't listen, just like the last time before he tried to kill himself. I ran into the woods and into the map room. Luckily Minho was still there. I ran right up to him and hugged him. He didn't ask what happened he just hugged me back. He my best friend. No he was my big brother who would protect me. "What happened Miranda? Something with Newt? Did you two fight? I'll kill him if he hurt my little sister." Minho asked after I dried my tears. We sat down in a few chairs."Not exactly a fight. I sort of ran right past him after what I saw.""What did you see?" Minho asked."The Greenie, it's a girl. She was all over Newt and they were flirting and she was holding his arm and they laughing together." I stuttered a few times trying to hold back more tears. "Well he is just so lovable." Minho said smirking."Minho this isn't the time for jokes right now." I said. Just as I said that Newt and the girl came busting through the door."Miranda. There you are." Newt said."Yeah here I am." I said coldly. My eyes were still red and my face was damp."Um I think you two need a minute." Minho said walking out of the room."So is this the new Greenie Newt?" I said gesturing towards the girl."Yeah she doesn't remember her name." Newt said smiling. I let out a slight laugh."What is she doing in here, Greenies aren't allowed in here." I said. I didn't want to even meet her."Well I wanted to introduce you two since you are gonna break her in." Newt said smiling. The girl smiled and looked at Newt."Well then hi, I'm Miranda." I said. She said hi and tried to shake my hand but I turned around to look at the map. Newt gave me a bad look and I smiled. "Hey why don't you um step outside. You can probably find Minho the guy that was just in here, I'm sure he'll love to get you some dinner." Newt said gesturing towards the door. "Sure." She said hugging Newt and left. My eyes were wide. I couldn't believe it. " I hope you mind but I offered her to sleep in my room until she finds people she trusts." Newt said."And where will we sleep?" I said. "On the floor." He said like it was no big deal. My breath got shallower and fists clenched up. "What's wrong Miranda? I thought you'd be fine with it." Newt said wrapping his arms around my waist and looking into my eyes. It was hard to stay mad at him but I managed.I wiggled out of his arms and to the other side of the room. I looked at his face and he seemed hurt but so was I."First it's a shuck Griever, then it's you and that girl." I said. raising my voice. I didn't mean to but it just happened."Whoa, you saw a Griever?!?" Newt asked looking shocked."Yeah but that's not the point." I said."What do you mean about me and the Greenie?" Newt said."I think you know but I'll explain it. First you don't even notice when I get back making my day worse. Then I see you and that girl pretty cozy by the forest. The she gets up and grabs your arm. The she hugs you in front of me! It's like you didn't tell her we are dating!" I yelled."Miranda calm down." Newt said putting his arms up."I'm sorry but it just makes me mad." "I'm sorry too. You're right I didn't tell her. And I didn't expect you to be back early so I thought it hadn't mattered. I'm so sorry." Newt said walking over to me. "Wait, so one, you didn't tell her, and two you didn't think it would matter since I wouldn't have known. News gets around the Glade fast I would have found out from somebody other than you." I said backing up. "Miranda it's not like that." Newt said. I was being way too rough on him since what I have already put him through but this was not ok."Newt I just need to be alone for a bit. And there is no bloody way in hell that I am going to talk to her. Ever." I said leaving Newt in the map room and walking out. I did what I normally do, climbed a tree and calmed down. I didn't see Newt come out. That night I slept with Chuck again. I woke up to hear hoots and hollers. Startled I shot straight up and saw what everybody was yelling about. Newt was carrying The girl in his shirt, from the Homestead to Alby. I looked and Newt didn't notice, again. Today was my day off so I have to deal with this all day. I ate breakfast with Minho and Chuck. Newt wasn't to be seen. Probably planning her party. That night I was having fun partying with the other Runners and drinking. I heard a yell and saw the girl get thrown to the ground in the sand ring. Good. She deserves it. "Marie! I remember my name! Marie!" Green-Mary yelled. Newt yelled and picked her up."That's a beautiful name Marie!" He said. Then she leaned down and kissed him. Everybody went ooohhh and hollered. Then they looked at me. I was stunned. I turned around and walked straight to the homestead. Once I was sure I was alone I ran up the stairs and to Newt's room. I layed down on the bed and cried. Newt came busting through the door panting like he sprinted here. He rushed to me and embraced me. I didn't care how mad I was at him I moved closer and put my head in the crook of his neck. He rubbed my back and ran my fingers through his hair. He comforted me well but I was still mad. "How could you do that Newt? With me right there too? I thought you loved me." I said lifting my head up and looking into his brown eyes. He looked hurt but also sorry for me."Miranda I didn't. She kissed me. I do love you. I couldn't love anyone else. You are the one who saved me. I could not live without you." He said. He put both his hands on my face. His thumbs caressing my cheeks."Really? It sure looked like you could if I weren't here. And you said she had a beautiful name. When I remembered my name you said it was cool. You've never said I have beautiful name." I said. I am overly jealous but he is mine, or I thought he was mine."Miranda there is no way above beautiful to describe your name, to say it was beautiful is to demote it. I would not be able to live without you. Remember when I thought you hated me I tried to kill myself." I winced I didn't want to remember that horrible time. "Ok I believe you. But I don't want you to hang out with her anymore. She can with any other guy but not MY Newt." I emphasized my. I smiled and hugged him tight around his neck. He wrapped his arms tightly around my waist. He pulled me up onto his lap and I wrapped my legs around him. I lifted my head and kissed him on the lips. I ran my hands through his hair kissing him. He moved his hands up my back. "I love you so much." I whispered. "I love you too." He said. Newt moved his hands down my back. His hands went under the bottom of my shirt. I took a shallow breath never taking my lips off of his. I pulled off his shirt feeling his chest. He was warm and beautiful. He moved his hands up to the clasps of my bra. He almost had it unhooked when Marie barged in. I looked at her like I was going to kill her. Newt gave her a death stare. She just looked dumbfounded. Like she was surprised that Newt and I were together. "Newt what are you doing?" Mary asked."I'm with my girlfriend." Newt said matter of factly. "I didn't know she was your girlfriend." Mary said."Yeah I am and if you don't mind we would like our privacy. You are more than welcome to find Chuck and he'll show you where to sleep." I said shooing her off. She huffed and stomped off. Newt put his shirt back on because Mary ruined our moment alone and I got up off the bed to change into the shirt that was permanently my sleeping shirt from Newt. We went to sleep and neither of us had nightmares.The next morning someone woke me up really early. It was supposed to be my day off again so it startled me. I looked up to see Marie. She had her hand over my mouth and was gesturing for me to get up. She put her finger up to her mouth and made a motion towards Newt telling me to be quiet. We walked out of the Homestead and after we got far enough away I started yelling at her."What the hell? What makes you think that you can just barge into our- Newt's room and wake me up and make me come outside. You are the Greenie. You have no authority here." I yelled. Like what the hell? She just stood there with her arms crossed with an annoyed look on her face. "Newt never told me about you two so you obviously don't mean anything to him. I want you to stop talking to him so that he can focus on me because he likes me." She said matter of factly. "You are one funny bitch." I said. "It wasn't a joke." She said.I walked forward. I was right in front of her when I swung my hand up and brought it to her face. She fell back and started bleeding. I smiled. She wasn't going to be saying anything to me anymore. Minho and Frypan ran over. Minho smiled at me congratulating me. I smiled back but then looked back at Mary. The med-jacks got to her and were ushering her off to the hospital. Minho walked over to me and smacked me on the back."I don't know exactly what happened but you are one bad ass. You punched her in the face! Why?" Minho asked."Well first she made the mistake of waking me up early," I said. Minho made a face like she was the most daring person in the world to do that."Then she has the audacity to tell me that Newt didn't mention us to her so he doesn't care about me and that she doesn't want me talking to him because he likes her." I said recounting our conversation."Holy hell, she honestly thought she could stand up to you? She is crazy." Minho said. It was a known thing that you don't mess with me. Right then Newt came running out of the Homestead hearing the commotion. He ran right up to me grabbing my hands. I winced. He raised my hand and turned them over so he saw my cracked, bloody, and white knuckles. "What the bloody hell happened? Why weren't you there when I got up? Why are you bleeding like you punched someone?" Newt said sounding worried."Newt it's fine. Nothing big happened." I said not wanting to bring up the fact that I punched the greenie."She shucking punched the greenie!!!" Minho said sounding amazed. I looked down somewhat ashamed. I was also really proud because no bitch like that was going to take Newt away from me."You what?" Newt asked."Minho can you leave us alone for a few seconds?" I asked."Sure. Just don't punch him too." Minho smirked. He was such a smart ass."So what happened?" Newt asked while Minho walked away."So first Mary came into our room and woke me up." Newt perked up when I said our. I smiled at him and nodded to the question on his face "our room?"."Wait, Mary came in and woke you up? For what? What did she want?" Newt asked grabbing my hands. I winced again and he looked down at my hands again. Realization flashed across his face. I looked down not wanting to see his disappointment."Let's continue this after we get you patched up." He said wrapping his arm around my waist and pulling me towards the hospital.Clint and Jeff wrapped my hand in gauze. The whole time Mary was sitting there with tissues up her nose and holding an ice pack to her head. She was glaring at me and smiled at Newt. He didn't smile back. We walked out of the hospital and to the woods. "So why did Mary come into our room?" Newt asked."She came to wake me up." I said."Why did she wake you up?" Newt asked. I didn't want to make him mad."She woke me up to talk about you." I said. I lowered my head but he put his hand under my chin making me look at him. His eyes were filled with curiosity. Or was it disappointment, or anger? I couldn't really tell."She told me that you never mentioned us so I didn't matter to you so she wanted me to stop talking to you because you liked her. It really made me mad mostly because I found myself almost believing her. So I punched her and that was it." I said. Tears welled in my eyes. I was on the verge of breaking down because I had doubted Newt's love for me."Really? She didn't seem like the type of person to do that." "You think I'm lying? That I just punched her out of nowhere?" I said. I was getting mad. I really didn't mean to. If anything he should be mad at me."No Miranda. I don't think that. I'm a little upset that you almost believed her though." Newt said looking hurt. I hated seeing him like this."I know. I'm sorry. Trust me I'm upset at myself for believing her too. So you're not mad that I punched her?" I said."No I'm proud. She deserved it. I'm proud that you didn't hesitate." He said. I smiled at him. He moved his free hand to go around my waist and lay on the small of my back. He put his other on my cheek and kissed me. I kissed back. It was passionate and intense. I put my hands in his hair and intertwined my fingers in his golden locks. He swiped his tongue against my bottom lip asking permission to enter. I parted my lips and let him in. He tasted like mint from his toothpaste. We went on for a while. Only partially coming apart for air. He moved his hands around on my back. I pulled and twirled his hair. I couldn't stop. I loved him and I never wanted this to end. But it did."I have to go work." Newt whispered."I know but I don't want you to go." I said."You can come with since you aren't running today." He offered."Sure. Is Marie going to be there?" "No" He laughed. He was amused by me not wanting to be around her.We finally broke apart but he still had his arm around my waist. We walked out of the forest and towards the gardens when we were met by Chuck."You guys were in there for half an hour. Marie has been calling for you Newt. She wants to talk." He said looking at me. I looked at Newt wondering what he was going to do."Tell her if she wants to talk I'll be in the gardens." He said and we walked way. Chuck ran to the hospital I assume to convey the message to Marie. I smiled at Newt and took his hand. We walked to the gardens and started working. Newt had me working with him picking fruits and other stuff like that. I was having a lot of fun but wanted to go running. I was about to kiss Newt on the cheek when Marie came up."Newt we need to talk. Privately." She said glaring at me. I smiled at her making her look disgusted."No. Anything you need to say you can say it here." Newt said walking over to me."Well I wanted to talk about us. I thought you liked me. We are great for eachother. I want to be a gardner unlike Miranda. She wants to go and risk her life in the maze. Also You never even talked about her like that. I mean whenever you mentioned her you lit up but I didn't think it meant anything. I don't think she is good for you." Mary said. Newt looked at me and he almost looked disappointed in himself. I hated that she made him feel like this. Though I've done the same thing."Hey, I've saved his life before! All you've done is managed to act like a lost dog and follow his every move. I know there is something you aren't telling everybody but I honestly don't care to find out." I said. tightening my grip on Newt's hand. He looked at me."Listen Mary, I know I never talked about her like that because I was scared. Scared that she would hear and scared that she might not love me anymore after what we've gone through together but I love her. I could not live without her.""How? It looked like it when I first got here. And how did she save your life?"I looked at Newt his eyes filled with hurt. I hurt for him. Neither of us wanted to return to those dark days and relive what happened."Well when she first got here is when I fell in love with her," I squeezed his hand and smiled up at him. "She got out of the box on her own and was the fastest person anyone had seen when she ran off. We got to know each other and she got to know herself. She realized she wanted to be a Runner. I didn't want her to and I couldn't tell her why because my reason was that I loved her. So we fought and she thought it was because she was the only girl and that I thought she couldn't handle it. So we didn't speak and it killed me. I went into a deep depression and tried to kill myself but failed. My leg got stuck and she was the one who saved me before the doors closed." Newt recanted. I felt so bad for him. That was when I told him I loved him. Mary stood wide eyed."Anything else you wanna talk about Greenie?" She looked dumbfounded and hurt. She turned around and ran. I looked at Newt and said"Man she is one annoying Greenie." He smiled at me and we continued our work.
