A WEEK LATER
"Tell you what," Scarlett said, smiling.
"What?" Y/N asked, looking up from the book she's reading.
"If you stop reading that book, and watch movies with me? Then I might let you cuddle me." Scarlett said, grinning.
Y/N laughed, shaking her head. "We literally just watched every movies while we were in our honeymoon vacation, my love."
Scarlett pouted, "But I miss my wife!"
"I haven't even finished this first page, Scar!" Y/N said and giggled at her wife's cuteness. "I'm literally just starting to read."
"What are you even reading?" Scarlett asked, still pouting. "What is so much important than your wife?"
Y/N laughed and pulled Scarlett closer by the back of her neck, giving her wife a sweet kiss. "Nothing is more important than you, my love. You're my one and only."
"Then cuddle me and watch movies with me." Scarlett said, smiling widely.
"I'm reading though," Y/N said, teasing Scarlett. "Maybe you should read too? It's for newlyweds that wants to start their family. My mom gave me this, said I should read."
"Oh, really?" Scarlett hummed and wrapped her arms around her wife's body. "Okay, let's read it, but you read it out loud."
Y/N chuckled and nodded her head, she kissed Scarlett's neck before reading.
"Scarlett?"
"Huh?" Scarlett blinked back to reality, she looked up and saw Y/N's mom. "Hey, momma. Sorry, I was just... thinking."
Y/M/N smiles a little, patting Scarlett's shoulder. "Come on, the doctor said that they'll wake Y/N up." She said.
Scarlett immediately stood up, "Really? That's good, that's good." She said as they started to walk back to Y/N's hospital room.
She's nervous, she knows Y/N might be mad at her. It may be a week now, since the accident happened, but for Y/N, it was only yesterday. But she's ready to face her wife's wrath, she will make it up. No matter what, she won't give up.
Once they made it back, the doctor proceeded with waking Y/N up.
"Let us not overcrowd her. She'll be a little groggy, so let's just give her some room to breathe." The doctor said, once they saw Y/N slowly adjusting her eyes to the light.
Once Y/N opened her eyes, she looks around the room.
"Hey..." Scarlett spoke, seemingly out of breath. She's too happy to finally see her wife's eyes again, she missed gazing into them. After their relationship started to fall apart, Scarlett never took the time to really look into Y/N's eyes. And she promised herself that she will change that, she will change herself.
She wants Y/N to be her wife, to be really her wife again. And in order to do that, she also have to work on herself.
Y/N looked at Scarlett.
"Hey," Scarlett said again, her heart beating so fast. "It's so good to see you again, your eyes, I missed them." She said, smiling a little.
Y/N frowned, "W-What..."
"Y/N?" The doctor spoke, taking Y/N's attention.
Y/N didn't look at the doctor.
"Y/N?" The doctor tried again.
This time, Y/N looked at the doctor, looking confused.
"You're fine, you're okay, you're in a hospital. You were involved in a car accident and you've had a concussion, but you're fine. We simply put you to sleep for a short time. How do you feel?" The doctor asked.
"My head hurts." Y/N answered, her voice a bit hoarse.
The doctor nodded her head, "It's okay, that's perfectly normal. I'll get you something for that, okay?"
Y/N gently nodded her head, "Was anyone else hurt, doctor?" She asked.
Y/N's parents frowned.
Scarlett gulped, "Y-Y/N, you know who I am, right?"
"No." Y/N answered right away, shaking her head a little bit. "I don't know anyone in this room, I don't even know... who I am."
Y/N's parents and Scarlett frowned.
Scarlett's heart shattered. "What? I'm your wife."
Y/N frowned, "W-Wife? What do you mean?"
Scarlett sat down at the chair next to Y/N's bed, she tried to hold Y/N's hand but her wife pulled her arm away from her.
Ache, Scarlett's heart is aching painfully.
Is this her karma? Is this the consequences of everything that she's done to her wife? Is it?
Scarlett couldn't think of any other way of pain and suffering, aside from this. Her wife didn't know her, her Y/N don't remember her.
Suddenly, Scarlett couldn't take it anymore. She stood up and walked out.
The doctor immediately followed behind, "Ms. Johansson."
"You said everything will be okay, doc! You said things were good!" Scarlett said, clenching her jaw.
"A brain injury is not the same as a broken bone or laceration. Brains are much less predictable, and the way the swelling tissue presses against the skull can sometimes cause some impairment."
"Some impairment? My wife doesn't remember me, or anything about her life." Scarlett said, frowning at the doctor.
"Even though she is awake, the swelling persists.
And it can result in confusion or memory loss, as well as erratic mood swings." The doctor said."What?" Scarlett frowned, everything is just falling apart.
"It's normal, just give her some time." The doctor said before excusing herself.
Scarlett sighed, running a hand through her hair. The way Y/N looked at her in that room ruined her, the way Y/N pulled her arm away, broke her. This is the most painful thing she's ever experienced and the worst thing is, she knows it's only getting started.
