Beep...beep...beep...

Harvey came back to consciousness to the sound of a heart monitor. He tried to open his eyes but found he couldn't, most likely due to the anesthetic. He felt a cold hand holding his and he gave it a small squeeze.

"Harvey?" A thick southern voice asked. He tapped his index finger on the person's cold skin, signaling he was mostly awake.

"I'll go get the nurse," the voice said, but Harvey tightened his grip slightly. He knew he was supposed to know who this person was, but he couldn't place it due to the delirium he was currently in.

"Nuh," he mumbled, not able to form any coherent sentences or even thoughts. Harvey heard the person mutter something but he couldn't understand it. And on that note, he promptly slipped back into slumber.

Harvey awoke to the sensation of a cold hand on his cheek and he nuzzled into it, feeling the person slightly pull away. He nuzzled into it more and slightly opened his eyes. The light burned his pupils until he got used to the brightness.

Harvey noticed Jasper sitting in a chair next to the hospital bed and he immediately tried to sit up.

"Harvey, you need to rest," Jasper said, putting his hand on the sick boy's chest.

"No."

"Yes."

"No."

"Darlin', please."

"Fine."

The hand never moved from his chest. Harvey felt his face turn red and it wasn't from him being sick.

"What time is it?" The shorter boy asked.

"Around two am, you've been sleeping for about eleven hours," Jasper said, his eyebrow slightly twitched and a minute later Charlie walked into the room. Jasper's hand flew from Harvey's chest back to his lap and Charlie didn't seem to notice.

"Hey, dad," Harvey said.

"Hey kid, how ya feeling?" Charlie asked, worry evident in his voice.

"Uh, I feel like I just got hit with a truck, so, great," Harvey said jokingly. Harvey then remembered that Jasper was there and saw him sitting awkwardly in the plastic chair.

"Dad this is Jasper, Jasper this is my dad," Harvey introduced the two and they awkwardly shook hands, most of the awkwardness was on Jasper's side of it.

"Wait, why are you guys here? Aren't there certain visiting hours or am I dumb?" Harvey asked, remembering the difficulty his mother used to have trying to visit him.

"Carlisle works here so I get to go in and out whenever I want," Jasper explained.

"I'm friends with the receptionist," Charlie said. Harvey fiddled with his fingers while the three of them talked.

"When can I get out of here?" Harvey asked, already sick of the hospital.

"The doctor said by sunrise you should be able to go home if you're feeling better," Charlie informed, causing Harvey to let out a relieved sigh.

Jasper's phone began to ring and he quickly picked it up.

"Hello?"

"Oh, ok. I'll be there soon, yeah, bye," Jasper sighed when he hung up and turned to Harvey.

"I have to go, Alice needs me. I'll see you later?" Jasper said, more like a question than a statement.

"Mhm, tell her I said hi," Harvey replied, disappointed Jasper had to leave. Suddenly he felt calm and he blinked a few times in confusion.

"Will do, bye," the pale blonde replied tousling the boys hair. Charlie was surprised when Harvey didn't pull away like he would have when he was a child, he never liked being touched.

"Bye, cowboy," Harvey said smiling slightly. Jasper walked out of the room and Charlie turned to Harvey.

"You never liked being touched as a kid, I guess things have changed," Charlie said to his son.

"Uh, I still don't like it but that's mostly because of body heat. I hate the heat," Harvey explained, getting a nod of understanding from his father.

"Well kid, I gotta go. I don't want to leave Bella alone at the house. I'll see you in the morning," Charlie said as he stood up.

"Ok, bye dad."

"Bye kiddo." And with that Harvey was left alone again. He grabbed his phone from a little table by the bed and unlocked it before scrolling through social media.

It was around four in the morning before he actually got tired and decided to try and sleep. That was a hard task with all the wires attached to him.

He thought it was overkill since he wasn't dying and he shouldn't need to be kept on a heart monitor. All he did was pass out and puke.

On the other side of things, he did have a 108 degree fever a few hours ago so maybe he did need them.

He tossed and turned before he finally fell asleep, the last thing on his mind was the thought of freedom from the stuffy hospital that he despised.
