Harvey desperately tried to forget what happened between him and Jasper in the car a few days ago. It was embarrassing for the Swan boy and he tried to ignore how much he wanted Jasper to kiss him. He had no clue why he developed a crush on the blonde so fast, he'd only known him for a couple of weeks.
Maybe it was the way he teased back when Harvey was trying to get him flustered, maybe it was the way he stared at Harvey like he was the most important thing in the world, maybe it was the way touches lingered in the dark of the night car rides they started taking ever since Harvey found out about Jasper being a vampire.
All Harvey knew, was that he was unquestionably falling for the southern boy.
"Harvey!" He heard a chirpy voice call, recognizing it as Alice.
"Hey Alice," Harvey replied. Alice immediately got a look of concern on her face at Harvey's dull tone.
"Are you ok?" She asked.
"I'm fine, just tired," he lied, noticing Jasper walk up next to his sister.
"Jasper this is your fault! Stop driving with him in the middle of the night, you're ruining his sleep schedule!" Alice shouted, there was no heat to her voice, however.
"I'm sorry darlin'," Jasper apologized to the raven-haired boy, grabbing Harvey's hand and pressing a kiss to his knuckles. He didn't sound sorry at all.
"I don't mind," Harvey mumbled. Jasper gently pressed his hand to Harvey's forehead and frowned.
"Darlin' you have a fever," Jasper noted, noticing how Harvey leaned into his touch.
"I'll be fine, it's not like I'm dying," Harvey said numbly. Jasper finally noticed the lack of emotion coming off of Harvey, and it worried him.
"Let's just get to class."
Harvey's blood boiled to the point he felt himself getting red in the face, well, redder than he already was due to his fever.
Jessica, one of Bella's friends, had just come up to him and started saying he should leave the Cullen's behind and come sit with her. That on its own wasn't what made him pissed, it was what she said afterward that really made him mad.
"Do you really want to spend lunch with those freaks?" Harvey couldn't believe the fucking audacity this bitch had to say that.
"You think I'd rather spend it with a bitch who thinks she can talk about people however she wants? What the fuck gives you the right to say that?"
"Do you really want to spend time with them? Especially Jasper, he looks like he's in pain all the time, and he acts like he's uncomfortable being around all of us peasants," she said mockingly.
"What the hell are you on!? Are you actually hearing yourself talk? Y'know what, fuck off and leave me the hell alone," Harvey spat, storming over to the Cullen's table and placing his forehead in his hands.
"Are you alright?" Alice asked, putting a hand on Harvey's shoulder. Harvey shook it off in a hurry, distressed. He realized Alice looked surprised and sad, and guilt started eating him up inside.
"Sorry, I'm just really fucking hot right now, and I'm pissed," Harvey muttered. His skin felt like it was on fire. Jasper pressed his hand to Harvey's forehead and frowned.
"Maybe take off your hoodie and you'll be cooler," Emmet suggested teasingly.
"I'm not wearing anything under it so unless you want to see me without a shirt on, no," Harvey deadpanned.
"I don't but I'm sure Jasper does," Emmet said, getting kicked from under the table.
"Maybe you should rest, I can drive you home?" Jasper offered.
"The last place I want to be right now is at home," Harvey mumbled.
"I can just drive you around then," Jasper said, a small smile on his lips.
"Alright," Harvey said, following Jasper out of the cafeteria.
Jasper held the door of the car for him and Harvey mumbled something about him being a polite bastard under his breath, the vampire definitely heard it though.
They drove around for a bit with the AC blasting and Harvey fell asleep. Jasper watched as his chest rose and fell, and his heartbeat slowed down.
The scent of Harvey's blood was definitely strong, though Jasper had no urge to do anything. The smell of his blood itself didn't bother him, but he knew that if he ever got a taste he wouldn't be able to control himself.
He had no clue why he didn't crave Harvey's blood like he did Bella's, it was very similar after all, Harvey's might even be more appealing to vampires than Bella's. Still, Jasper couldn't fathom the thought of sinking his teeth into the small boy.
After around three hours of Harvey sleeping, he began to stir. He immediately sat up and began hyperventilating. Jasper quickly drove the car to the side of the road.
"Hey, Harvey, Harvey calm down, you're ok," Jasper said soothingly, but it wasn't enough to calm the terrified boy.
"Oh, oh god, I thought you died, you were limp and you didn't move, y-your eyes were pitch black and then your head wasn't connected to your body-"
"Harvey calm down, I'm right here, see?" Jasper grabbed Harvey's hand and put it on his cheek.
"I'm right here," he whispered, calming the frantic human. That's when Harvey realized tears were trailing down his face. Jasper wiped them away, whispering sweet words to him.
"You're alright," Jasper whispered, pressing a kiss to Harvey's knuckles. Harvey gathered his breath and laid his head on Jasper's shoulder. Jasper put his hand on Harvey's cheek to check his temperature, being satisfied that it had gone down. Despite this, Harvey still enjoyed the cold touch.
Harvey hummed contently and realized his hand was still on Jasper's cheek. He went to move it away but Jasper quickly put it back, causing a light blush to spread over Harvey's face and his heartbeat to speed up. Jasper smiled at how much he affected the human, finding it amusing.
"Your heart is always racing when you're near me," Jasper commented. "It's adorable."
"Shut up."
