LEXI'S POV
Everything was a blur as my vision started to return. My head was pounding, and I could hear muffled noises around me. I looked to my left and noticed Uncle Jonas, Tim, and mom all looking at me worriedly. Uncle Jonas grabbed me by the arms and tugged me out of the truck through the broken window "Come on Kiddo, we got to move. Now!" he commanded as we rushed away from the crash site. I held onto Mom as she helped me hold me up as I was still a bit out of it. It didn't really take long for us to reach an abandoned factory area "There it is" Uncle Jonas says motioning towards a building "We only have to make it till midnight" he reassured us, but it did absolutely nothing to calm the sinking feeling that had been bothering me since the minute we got back on the road.
We make our way inside and Uncle J leads us up some steps and towards this weird cage-like structure, he ushers me, mom, and Tim inside while standing in front of the door "Just one more hour. We'll be safe in here. It has a steel door. Locks on the inside" he explained. I walked around the inside looking at the stuff when I heard mom ask Uncle Jonas "What are you thinking?". I looked over and noticed Uncle Jonas look up at her with his eyes wide it wasn't hard to tell that he was beginning to feel the effects of the change, with a heavy sigh he answered "Well, I'm out there and you're in here with Lexi and Tim." I looked at him like he was crazy, mom spun around to face him "You want to go out there alone?" she questioned. He simply gave her a shrug "I got a few tricks up my sleeves" he said. I watched mom walk over "Let me help you, Jonas" she pleads. He shakes her off "Now, you listen to me. After I turn, I'm gonna be fighting the need to feed." He tells her. I make my way over to them "We're here Uncle Jonas. Let us help you please." I begged but Uncle Jonas quickly cut me off as he continues his rant "On anything...and anyone. Now I don't know what's going to happen. But if I feed, I'll probably lose control and you're not gonna have a choice" he tells mom, ignoring my statement completely as he hands her his shotgun "Kill me. You gotta kill me. Swear to it, swear to it Rachel." He pleads with her as me and Tim continue to watch on with tears in our eyes at the realization that we may just lose another family member before midnight strikes. I watched on as mom took the gun, Tim and I rushed over to Uncle Jonas and gave him one last hug, while he still remains somewhat human. He hugs us back tightly, before pulling away. "It's not for another hour, but happy birthday Timothy." He tells Tim, removing his necklace and handing it over to Timothy. "We just have to last until midnight. You two are gonna be ok." He assures us before turning his attention over to mom who watched on tearfully.
We all watched as Uncle Jonas leaves the structure slowly letting go of Tim's hand as he fully exits closing the door behind him "Don't open the door." He instructs us once more before running off to turn. Mom quickly locks the door just as growls are heard. She pulls Tim and I over to a corner and huddled us close. It was not long before the howls began to echo through the sky and the factory building. I tightened my grip on my mom, my eyes frantically scanning the building. I could hear the entry door slam open, I couldn't help but tense as I could hear movement throughout the factory coming from all directions. I can't help the chills that run through my body, I guess mom notices because she moves as quietly as possible to cover Tim and I with her jacket.
Soon after I hear growling and things crashing, the growling then turns to howling and grunts of pain. I cover Tim's ears as best as I can whilst still remaining quiet. Next thing I know I'm hearing a hard thud and cracking noise, I shudder to even think about what it was but then I remember that these are the assholes trying to kill a 12yr old.
An anger filled roar basically shakes the building, Tim hops up quickly "Uncle Jo..." he started but we all froze as he knocked down a tin pot. I grab his arm dragging him down "Get down" I growl out while anxiously checking our surroundings to see if anyone was coming. Mom holds us close while also looking around, her hold on the shotgun firm. We continued to hear snarling and sounds of fighting throughout the factory. We all jumped once we heard a snarl that sounded to close for comfort. I began to get antsy with all this waiting and the sounds, but I quickly jumped up once I heard a growl sound out from somewhere around us. Thinking quickly I jumped from corner, pulling Tim behind mom and I. I continued to look around the cage frantically, but suddenly I heard a noise coming from above us "Mom!!" I called out as I pulled Tim closer, just as the bitchy one dropped downand crashed through the ceiling of the structure landing directly onto mom.
