*Continuation from the last chapter*
Alexia's POV
When we got there Adam, Doak, Katherine, and Will were packing up a truck. We had made it over "Go, let's move." he instructed helping Tim into the van with me following after. I looked back to see Uncle Jonas hop in, but mom stood frozen outside. Uncle Jonas offered his hand "Give me your hand. Give me your hand, Rachel! Come on." he exclaimed. Mom quickly grabbed his hand and got into the truck rushing over to me and Tim, holding us close.
Our small embrace was cut short rather roughly as the truck rammed through the closed doors and into the road. Immediately shots began to ring through the air once again, Nana ran over to us to attempt to climb in with Uncle Jonas' help. She was almost in, she was so close. A shot rang out and she jolted forward "NANA!!!" I exclaimed trying to rush over to her but mom and Doak grabbed me in a tight hold as I watched nana begin to slump forward "Get out of here" she demanded. I felt the truck start to move and I began to struggle more, "Nana no, please" I cried out but the truck had already started moving. Everyone continued to shoot until an explosion rings out causing enough of a distraction for Uncle Jonas and Adam to get the door closed.
I stayed kneeling on the floor, my brain felt like it was going a million miles a second, and everything felt numb. I could hear everyone around me talking but it all sounded muffled like my head was underwater. I felt mom grab me and pull me closer to her, a small hand latched onto mine bringing me out of my thoughts. Looking over I saw Tim, staring up at me with tears in his eyes. I gave him a comforting look, the best one I could manage at that moment. My attention was grabbed when I noticed Uncle Jonas coming toward us "What the hell is happening?" mom asked.
Uncle Jonas sighed "They want Tim" he answered, my eyes widened. "What are you talking about?" I asked him "Why would they want Tim?" I continued. He looked away from me and towards the others before turning back "They want to kill him, and maybe even you." he told me. All the air rushed out of my lungs at that moment, what the fuck had my life turned into was all that I could think of at that moment. "Why would anyone want to kill Tim or Lexi? They're just kids" mom exclaimed, "In three days, on a full moon, something is going to happen to Tim. Something they can't allow." Jonas explains. Rolling my eyes, "You're not making any sense, Uncle Jonas." I exclaimed. Jonas just looked at us "We're cursed. We kept you in the dark all these years because it was the best way to prevent them from finding the kids...ever. And we kept them safe Rachel, for 13 years, we kept them safe." He begins, "We call ourselves Skinwalkers" Jonas revealed.
Once he said that it felt like everything at this point was just static, I looked around the rest of the truck and watched as Katherine began locking Adam into a full-body contraption, while Doak threw himself against a wall growling as he felt the transformation begin "I don't understand" I muttered. I could feel Uncle Jonas' eyes turn to me but I couldn't take my eyes off of the three behind him "You would call us werewolves." He explained putting it in simpler terms. I scoffed out in disbelief, "Who were they?" Tim finally asked. Uncle J cleared his throat slightly, "Skinwalkers, but not like us. It's really quite simple, we want the curse to end. They don't" he answered. I looked over at Timothy as he asked tearfully "Why do they want me?".
Jonas was quiet for a moment before he spoke up "Because you are the only one who has the power to end the curse forever. You are special Timothy, Lexi. You have your mother's blood and ours." He explained. I looked at him confused "What?" I questioned still not believing that this was real "Nana was one of us, and so was your father." Jonas revealed. My eyes widened at the revelation. "No, that's impossible. Not my husband." I heard mom claim, I looked behind me to see her turn to the door behind us and begin banging on it to get Will's attention "Pull this thing over. We're getting out." She yelled. Uncle Jonas stood and looked at her with a pleading look "Rachel, please!" he pleaded but mom was not having it "Don't you get it? I don't believe you." She exclaimed.
"You're no better than..." she continued before Doak snuck behind her knocking her out with chloroform as Jonas pulled Tim and me away from her. "Mom!" I called out, struggling in Uncle Jonas' hold. "It's going to be OK, I promise," Doak told her just before she was fully out. I struggled enough to finally get out of Jonas' hold, running over to mom as Doak placed her down on a mattress in the corner. "She's just asleep, Lex. You and Tim need to go to the front with Will, what's about to happen is not something I would want you two to witness." Jonas explained. I looked back at him and then to mom, before sighing and grabbing Tim. I slid the door to the front open and nudged Tim to go in front of me before turning back, sharing one last look with Jonas and Doak before closing the door.
It wasn't long after I sat down, that I began to hear snarls and growls erupt from the back. Tim grabbed onto my arm tightly as we kept driving. I looked back at the door briefly "Don't worry, she's safe." Will began, I turned my attention to him "They're locked down. She needs to see it to believe it." he explained. I sigh running my hand through my hair "You're not like them" I acknowledged keeping my eyes on the road, slightly tightening my arm around Tim's shoulder. "I'm just a friend. I knew your father when he was your age Tim, and Jonas and I go way back." Will explains keeping his focus on the road. "My people have been taking care of these people for a long time. There's a legend, a belief, that if a child who is a..."
"Half-breed" Tim interrupts, "Something like that" Will continues "And if they live to be of age, there's gonna be a red moon, which is a signal to all Skinwalkers that the prophecy will be fulfilled at midnight on the day of their 13th birthday." He adds. I kept quiet as he continued his explanation "When they turn, the craving for human blood is so intense, that if they break free and feed, they will become the beast forever." he finishes. I thought for a moment "The ones' trying to kill Timothy, possibly both of us, they don't want this curse to end?" I inquired. Will sighs, "To them, it's not a curse. The lust ad desire to consume blood is so overwhelming for them, it's like drugs to an addict. The first Skinwalkers were Native Americans. They believed that the power of the wolf was a gift, but it mutated and...many could control the lust for power, couldn't fight the beast inside them." He explains.
I scoffed "What makes you think we can? If we live through this, what is it that Tim is supposed to do exactly?" I asked growing even more worried about the role my brother may have to play in this whole thing. Will turned to look at us briefly before answering "I don't know." After that all conversation stopped, the only sounds that could be heard are the growls and snarls from the back. I stood up, nudging Tim to the side and making my way to the back with Timothy following behind me. My eyes widened at the sight that I was met with, the people who had practically helped raised me had transformed into these...beasts. I felt mom pull me close, her arms wrapped around me and Tim. After a minute or two, I stood up and began making my way towards the beast closest to the back on the left side of the truck, Kat, mom reached out to grab me. I looked at her and gave her a look to show that I knew what I was doing, reluctantly she nodded and slowly let me go.
I slowly made my way towards Kat, she snarled and thrashed as I got closer to her, for some reason the action made me want to growl and retaliate. It felt weird but I held myself back from doing so. I placed my hands on her bindings and stared her in her glowing yellow eyes, for a moment she calmed down and just stared back at me. But, that moment ended as quickly as it came because she soon started snarling and thrashing once more. I quickly stepped back, bumping into Tim, who had been looking at Uncle Jonas. Grabbing him by the arm I pulled him closer to me as we stayed rooted in our spots, just simply staring at the beasts that surrounded us. Eventually, we made our way back over to mom, who quickly wrapped her arms around us once more. I don't know how or when but at some point my eyes began to droop and soon all I saw was darkness, my last thought being what has my life become?
