Back at the shipwreck, Namjoon was feeding the giraffes with some of the dry grass he had collected. He desperately wanted to set them free, but the aliens were still out in the open, so Namjoon hesitated. A lot was going on, both in his head and in his surroundings. All of the animals seemed to be making a lot of ruckus today, but Namjoon didn’t mind. It all ceased right then, when something, or someone, knocked on the door. The whole room became deathly quiet. The elephants stopped trumpeting, the birds stopped squawking and the monkeys stopped chattering. Namjon too, felt this sudden dense mood, for he stuffed the rest of the grass in a small bucket, approached the door with caution and opened it. To his surprise and shock, a boy stood there, his hair with two shades of brown and grey, sweat steadily dripping on his eyes. “Hey. I’m Hoseok. Can I talk to you?” he asked. Namjoon, still in shock, nodded and led him to his room. He gestured to the newcomer to sit on the chair while he seated himself on the bed. “So, why do you want to see me?” he asked hesitantly. Hoseok replied, “I’m actually from the future. I got wind of a time machine from the aliens and got here. Humans are existing, but through genetic processes by the aliens and not naturally. IiWe are getting treated so badly by them, so I want to stop them right now. And I need your help for that.” Namjoon was dumbstruck for a while. “Okay, I get your point. But how in the world will we, two humans, survive those futuristic, power-packed and merciless aliens?” he asked. “I’ll explain later. So, are you onboard with the plan?” Hoseok asked. Namjoon was silent for a while. He wanted to defeat the aliens as payback for the apocalypse, but he didn’t know what was holding him back. “Okay, I’ll join in. I’m Namjoon, by the way,” he said. “Nice to meet you. Do you know if any other humans are still alive?” Hoseok asked. Namjoon thought for a while. “Come to think of it, I have. I see him down at the northwest battlefield using my telescope,” he said. Hoseok smiled. “Then what are we waiting for?”
Mounted on one Arabian horse each, the two boys set off to the battlefield. It was a week’s long journey through the forests, plateaus and more. The horses were reasonably fast and had good navigation. They rode from dawn till dusk, only stopping for food and rest. “How do you get on with life with all those animals?” Hoseok asked, the fourth day after their journey. They were resting by a plain for a while. Namjoon, who was stroking one of the horses, replied with a smile, “I don’t know. I’m just used to it I guess.” “Cool, I’m impressed, how you put up with a lot of ruckus everyday,” Hoseok said. “You must’ve been putting up with as much noise as I am now, seeing as you were in full exposure to rasping aliens,” Namjoon said. The two boys laughed as they remounted their horses to hit the road again.
For three more days the two boys travelled, carefully heading northwest to the battlefield. It was still littered with the remains of the last battle, but only one thing seemed out of place there. A cottage stood right in the centre of the battlefield, its planks slowly drying up in the sun. The two boys stopped their horses and approached the cottage. “This is an odd place to live though. You sure you saw him here?,” Hoseok commented. “I’m sure he’s still there. I’ll just knock and find out,” Namjoon replied and raised his fist to knock at the door. But it opened before his fist made contact with it. A boy opened the door, his dark hair sleek and straight, his handsome eyes full of disbelief and shock, which increased more as he caught sight of Namjoon and Hoseok at his doorstep. “What in the world is going on?” he said. “Hey. I’m Namjoon and this is Hoseok. We are going to hunt those aliens and we need your help as well,” Namjoon said awkwardly. “I’m Seokjin and I don't understand how you’re going to ‘hunt down the aliens’.” “We’ll explain later. Are you coming or not?” Hoseok asked. Seokjin thought for a while. “Okay, I’ll come too,” he said after a minute or two. “Great. Did you see any humans pass by or something?” Namjoon asked. Seokjin replied, “I have seen two boys. One of them was being chased by aliens while the other went in search of the former.” Namjoon and Hoseok looked at each other in fear. “That gang retreated, so I guess we can look for them,” Seokjin added, noticing their expressions. “Okay. Let’s first try that forest over there,” Namjoon said as he mounted his own horse. “Wait a second, boys. I’ll be back,” Seokjin said and retreated into his house. A few seconds later, hundreds of birds flew to freedom. Seokjin stepped out, feeling proud of himself. Hoseok helped Seokjin mount Namjoon’s horse and climbed on his own. With a fierce gallop, the two horses made their way to the forest.
