Her body shook with exhaustion and sweat poured down her face, dripping onto the ground below. Every fiber in her body screamed for relief and it took everything in her to not collapse at that moment. She could still hear the voice in front of her, someone was screaming at her to keep going, don't stop; and she had every intention to finish what she'd started. Her breath came out ragged and sharp, each inhale and exhale it's own chore.
She took one last deep breath and threw one fist forward, effectively hitting the punching bag with her boxing glove.
Suddenly, everything came flooding back and her trainer was clapping one hand on her shoulder, the man congratulating her on another successful session. Y/n smiled tiredly and grabbed a towel off the bench next to her and wiped the moisture from her brow; the towel soaking up her hard work.
"That was a great session, Y/n. I'll see you back here tomorrow for the next one. Take a load off today, you deserve it; and don't forget to stick to the diet I created for you."
"Thanks, Mac. I'll see you tomorrow morning." Y/n headed off towards the locker room, eagerly anticipating a hot shower to help soothe her already sore muscles.
Today marked the first in the final week before she was set to start showing her team some songs for her new album, since the artist had taken some time off to travel around and relax for a few of months before hitting the studio. Of course, she had written some music when she was away, perks of not really being able to shut off the inspiration that she had garnered while she visited each beautiful location and meeting extraordinary people. Y/n had maintained her social media while she was away, documenting the many things she saw and dropping hints to her fans about the new music that was sure to make it's way onto all platforms soon.
She had even been somewhat cheeky and hidden lyrics in photos on her Instagram stories and dropped hints on the subject of new songs in her captions. So far, only a few had picked up on them and she was getting excited thinking of the surprise she had planned during her next concert.
Y/n finished up in the showers and wrapped a towel around her lower half, slipping a black Nike sports bra on over her top half. She made her way towards the lockers and got dressed in some black joggers and a white dry fit shirt. The artist had made the mistake of leaving the gym without showering and paparazzi had eaten her alive the next day with photos of the zombified version of Y/n leaving her gym on Sunset Boulevard. Besides the usual thirst comments and those claiming to be "experts" on why you shouldn't walk around sweaty, she had endured days of her friends creating memes out of her horrible TMZ photos.
She made her way out onto the sidewalk and headed to her favorite juice bar, ready to indulge in her favorite green smoothie and protein packed peanut butter bowl, when her phone began vibrating in her pocket.
"Hey, Jay. What's up?"
"Hey Y/n. I just got a call from Gerry. Is there anyway you can come down to Sunset Records' offices today? We got a last minute meeting that they need you to be at?"
"Yeah, of course. I already showered and I'm just picking up breakfast now. What time is the meeting?"
"Oh thank god! The meeting's at one in the afternoon, I'll send a car to come pick you up."
"Okay, it's only eleven thirty right now so I have plenty of time to get home, change, and get all my stuff together. Do I need to bring anything?" Y/n checked her watch, before responding to the woman on the other line.
"Nope, just your happy self. I'll see you soon. Bye."
The woman hung up before Y/n could even respond and the artist chuckled to herself, always taken off guard on how fast Jay could hang up. She barely had time to pull her iPhone away from her face before she heard the call end. Y/n shook her head, slipped her phone in her pocket, and walked into the brightly painted building.
