after Leslie had finished her sentence, I open my mouth to speak, but was cutoff by my front door slamming shut, after my mom had just appeared next to me.

"Leslie, I wanna know why you interrupting my goddamn sleep, it betta be for some good reason too." Nicole, my mother raised her voice angrily.

"Nicole, there ain't no problem, but if your daughter hittin and beating my daughter, there's a problem." Leslie said, gaining confidence.

"Well I'm hearin' your daughter likes Athena's boyfriend, and we not gon' go through this shit like we did in high-school." Nicole said, grabbing Athena and pulling her inside the house.

"thank you mom, I'm sorry about that," athena said as she shut the front door.

Her mom nodded, and headed back to her room, it was already late to deal with this bullshit.

"fuck," athena mumbled into her pillow, all she wanted was a good night.

She shut her eyes, and thankfully went to sleep fast.
